Hey guys what's Up thought i would see if anyone can help me here because i'm getting no help on.. "Dedicated Comp help forums"

So basically i'm trying to capture a game called Minecraft using fraps

It's a Java Based Game.
I have the latest version of fraps

Laptop Specs Via Dxdiag

Acer acpire 6920
3gb DDR2 Ram
500gb hdd
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 512mb
Vista Sick

My output looks like this
https://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/394326_2483053314062_1184473155_32246097_1189562656_n.jpg

The lines move through the recording. Ive messed with all the fraps setting nothing changes it. Drivers are up to date

cheers
Tried playback in Media Payer. Sony vegas.. VLC all the same

Ran Fraps as Admin, And Minecraft

It records fine. the indicator shows up. getting 32fps while rec and 70 while not which isn't a problem

Anyone shed any light
I kinda know my way around a computer just slightly baffled

Fraps is for recording Direct X & Open GL, isn't Minecraft a java based game/applet?

You would be better off using a screen recorder not aimed at capturing gaming footage at high FPS and super hi resolutions like Fraps and use something like Camstasia.

Yup minecraft is java. The problem is that you think fraps is just doing a screen shot 35 times per second, but it's not. It's recording it in a more efficient way as it knows it's recording a directx / openGL game. Java is neither of these things.
People have recorded minecraft so just google to find out what they used.

Thanks for the help guys

It's just everybody uses fraps for minecraft and it just won't work for me..

Tried it again but it still woudn't work
Does it have a Manual Choke? Idea

Fraps Recognizes Minecraft As it Shows the FPS indicator in the top right window automatically so it knows what it's recording

1000's of People using fraps for recording but nobody has any tutorials for this problem, I searched all night last night.

And My friends Putting 8gb of ram in his 1998 e systems PC to make it play MW3... He got a "LOL"

Ive tried screen recorders and they just don't have no where near the same quality

Anyone got any further ideas? Cool
thanks

edit..
It records my desktop fine..

It's Obviously a conflict between Minecraft and Fraps
Doesn't make any sense it works for everyone else

Looks like a V-sync issue to me.
Have you tried changing the settings that fraps records in, or what gets used to encode the video?
It might also be worth playing minecraft in windowed mode rather than full screen as this often changes the sync up a bit and can be easier on your PC due to fraps recording a lower resolution.

Ah yes V-sync, ive ran into that a few time's while researching

Ive Fiddled around in Fraps it only has
FPS settings
Loseless rgb capture
Loop buffer length
Monitor Aero Desktop

That's it Nothing changes it

I also have been trying fraps in windowed mode and saw a reccomenation to run it in full screen to bypass a possible v-sync problem only the fraps indicator dies when i hit fullscreen and it records a file via the record hotkey but the file is 0 seconds long but still has a worthy file size.. does that make sense?

something else i found out..

If i get Minecraft in windowed and Close fraps.. Then double click fraps and quickly put Minecraft in full screen while fraps opens fraps returns an error when it starts up..

(Fraps error 8)
"There was a Problem initializing DirectX 9
Please insure your video drivers are upto date and you have the latest version of directx installed"

Just updated direct x and have the same problem
real head scratcher

Really appreciate the help

could it be a compatibility issue between frap and the version of java your running,

issue with your graphics card driver?
are you running the latest version of fraps?

I have always found fraps to work ALOT better when recording to a different hard drive to the one your running on, especially on standard 7200RPM 3.5" drive!

I had a similar problem when i was trying to capture some games a while back, when i get home from work il have a look at the settings to try and help - Pretty sure it was to do with v-sync and/or Windows Aero as well - all your drivers up to date?

Also, if your running the free version of fraps - try the 'paid for' version Wink

EDIT - Also, the latest drivers for your GPU https://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-32.aspx

The fact that it's on a laptop could be causing problems - What resolution are you running? Recording while playing is fairly intensive - i Found problems on my old high end rig...
