which bike??

hi guys!

so im really into the supersport looking bike, im 6ft3 and just under 15stone.

ive been looking around alot of forums and 2 bikes have popped up time and time again.

the honda nsr125, which as i understand is the mor reliable of the 2 strokes. but still.... its a 2 stroke, which makes me a bit unsure

and the yamaha yzf r125, beautiful looking bike, very reliable, but lacking the power of the nsr..

just looking for some opinions. and some comfirmation on the info ive found. im completly new to bikes and looking for something that will last a while and wont blow up!

I'm going to assume from your interest in 125s that you're under 21. In that case, get any Japanese branded commuter bike (YBR125, CG125, CBF125, EN125 etc etc), and pass your A2 test ASAP. A license is going to be worth a lot more than any bike. Don't worry about how you look on a smaller bike, nothing looks good with L plates on it.

The reason for this is that licensing laws are changing for the (much) worse on January 13th 2013. DAS age is going up to 24, and lower classes of license won't automatically upgrade like the current "A <= 25KW" category that you can get on a 125 - you'll have to pass more tests to get access to bigger bikes.

While you get on with ignoring that, I'd suggest looking at the Hyosung GTR 125. It's a big bike (frame is based on the GS500), Korean quality (good enough for Suzuki) and they're good value bought used.

my plan for the moment is to do my cbt early next year, get a bike, preferably an nsr Smile

get some experience on that and quickly get on and do my test.

not to stressed about getting a big bike straight away, just want to get out and get some experience, instead of running before i can walk and getting a big bike and not really know what im doing Smile

i just passed my A2 on my own XR125, and having done the 125 sports bike thing for a while i wish i just went ahead and bought the XR125 and passed a long time ago.

its big, easy to ride, good enough to do your test on, and should sell a few months later for what you bought it for.
