I am a fan of the LOTR series, and the extended version helped complete the film more really.

I can't wait for the Hobbit either!

Trailer here:

A guy from The Office is in it LOL.

Wouldn't say I'm a LOTR fan, but I've read the Hobbit so I can't wait to watch this. Might need a refreshing read first though Smile

Been looking forward to this for a while.
If it's as good as the previous films it'll be worth the wait. Very Happy
Have to read the book again before it's released.

Whats got me is, why do we have to wait so long? Obviously the movie is made or there would not be the trailer for it. Why not have a summer blockbuster rather than make us wait until Xmas.

I read the Hobbit, loved the book. Hated the LOTR books as they were boring but the movies I enjoyed as it cut a load of the waffle out. Looking forward to the movie of the Hobbit though. Just dont want to wait a year for it.

Well I knew the movie was going to be in Dec 2012. It was always the date.

You need to realise that it may have just finished or somehow in terms of filming, but editing it takes a lot more time.

The original lotr are more like 4 hours to 4 and a half, but cut to 3 hours for the cinema. Both good but I prefer the extended versions so I understand more.

Yeah but, no but!

Wont take them a year to do that surely. Put the best bits in the movie, Add 2 hours of chaff and story and send it to the cinema. DVD just release the rest. Laughing

No idea man, but I guess they want it perfect. Definitely editing takes a log time, perhaps they need to add the special effects into it, which I assume will have a lot.

We have Batman anyway to look forward to!

Didn't they have to deal with some industrial action in NZ before filming started.
I'm glad they got the same actors back again, would have spoiled it if they hadn't, IMO.
Have never been a LOTR geek, but I do have all the books, the DVD's are the most watched in my collection though!

Should have done the hobbit first, then LOTR, simply because Gandalf ain't gonna be too badass in this being still Gandalf the Grey. That was the only gripe I had with LOTR, in the Return of the King I was expecting an epic magic battle between Gandalf and Sauroman, or the lead Wraith, instead he just clubbed a few people in the face with his staff....laaaame.

Eh, Middle Earth isn't World of Warcraft, there's very little overt magic in the books. It is mostly clubbing in the face.

That's what Harry Potter And The Unending Franchise is for.
