I've wanted a bike for a few years now since I travelled the length of Vietnam on a Honda C90. Never owned a bike in England though, until now.

I've picked up this 1984 Honda H100 SD for £200. Runs well (as far as I can tell) just needs a really good tidy. I'm interested to see what everyone thinks as I really don't know much about bikes.

Got to be a good little bike as a first project Thumbs Up nothing in there that will be to complicated.

Still a good few in the breakers yards and still a lot of bits on Steal-bay.

Looks like a great bike for £200. Certainly a better deal than I got on my RXS100...

I'd have a good go at the rust on the tank before it gets worse though.

I was wondering about the tank, think i may have to bring it off and give it a new lease of life. may even go for a new colour scheme.

christmas day update!
Bike wasn't ticking over yesterday, is there a screw that needs adjusting to stop the throttle cable going to far back?

trying my best on the rusty chrome parts, with wire wool. this is the progress so far:

chain guard before https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7034/6569236933_b44e236ba6_z.jpg
chain guard after https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7015/6569238531_be844032e3_z.jpg
Any tips on how to remove those stubborn bits? and after treatment to seal and protect?

Under side of the fuel tank, i'm pretty sure i need to bring this off to sort it out.
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7015/6569281549_a5d9df6387_z.jpg

next, rear brake cable is messed up, really bent. in my hand here. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7023/6569195009_7d84a7999d_z.jpg Also you can see the rear wheel here its in a much worse condition than the front, whats the best technique for sorting that out?
thanks in advance guys

Putting hours and hours of work into a bike you can't use if tough. Get it running the moving and mechanically sound so that you can use it, then fix it up bit by bit.

As for the wheel, don't sand it! use wire wool and oil and see what happens.

A tempory solution to keep some of that cleaned chrome a bit brighter for a little longer, maybe spray it with some clear lacquer .

Here's mine, the photo makes it look peachy... it's not to look at all in the flesh, but is reliable as anything when in broad day light. Not a Winter hack due to the 6V lighting.
My plan is to learn the upkeep/license bit on this and build a cafe at the same time, I'm with the 'get it running and craft it over time while you use' school of thinking.
If only I could imagine this as a cafe, two birds - one stone Laughing

It was a bar Idea that somehow happened. Basically inspired by top gear, me and a friend bought 2 c90s in saigon and drove to hanoi over about a month. Never driven a bike before or even been interested in them until then. Your never more than a mile away from a motorbike expert there, parts are stupidly cheap, got a new sprocket and chain for about a pound, new key and ignition was about 50p, crazy.

That looks very nice indeed. What prep, if any did you do?

I would strongly recommend putting some petrol resistant lacquer over the top of that if you want it to last.

simply rubbed it down with wire wool and oil followed by fine sand paper, took time but results are worth it
