I've split the cases on the gasgas and there are some bits of stuff in various nooks and crannies that need cleaning out. I would like to give them a general good soaking in something to help get them clean. I considered paraffin but does anyone have any other ideas of suitable chemicals?

I wish, can you still buy it? I fell for the 'get a cup of that stuff and take it to Bob' trick when I was an apprentice. Embarassed

I cleaned the insides and outsides of my CLR125 cases by using petrol and a toothbrush.

Could always do a CHR15 and shove in the dishwasher Laughing

I always used to use Jizer or Gunk. No idea what sort of price it is now, probably cheapest to use paraffin.

This 100% works but you will need to buy a dishwasher cleaner other wise it will smell like oil for ages!

No, I think it banned but that is what you want.

As Chris, said, surely your work has some sort of cleaning equipment for stuff like this.

No problem with the dishwasher but there are some bearings that I don't want to take out and the salt won't do them any good. Not at work for two weeks and I have no patience.

I bought an aerosol can of degreaser at B&Q (I think) a couple of months back, and it's awesome at getting really rancid crap off of engine casings. Spray it on, wander off for about ten minutes, then have at it with some rags and a bit of water.

It's a green and black can, and has precisely sod all branding on it.
