LOL. you were given an offer to do a course and avoid points, and didn't?

Basically, you could have avoided points, now you're going to get points.

Yes, you got the NIP and a summons has to be issued within 6 months so that's within time as well, when the actual court case is has no bearing time wise if it gets adjourned etc etc..

Oh well, 1 fine a year is acceptable I guess. My chrimbo has been made much more jolly by the amount of burnt out speed cameras I've seen recently Cool I wonder if people usualy burn them if they have been flashed to destroy any evidence or just as a service to the local community?

Dunno, but if they did they might still be disappointed. Those two rail workers melted one right down using thermite and they still had the data coz it wasn't stored in the box on top.

IIRC the speed camera wasn't even active but because it was vandalised regularly it was being watched by a hidden CCTV camera.

Didn't someone on here (? Cansa), get buggered as they totted up his points at the time of the offence rather than at the time of the conviction... i.e. he got banned even though the points had expired before the case was heard...

Don't know if that's gonna apply to you, only you mentioned having at least two lots of points at the time of the offence.

My insurance shoots up by £200 with a conviction/points.

This is ignoring the fact several companies say no outright.

My insurance is about £50 more on both the bike and car with my 3 points + the original fine. So it's cost me £460...

Points for speeding (and a fair few other offences but not all) apply from the date of the offence, not the date of conviction.

It is possible to string the process out long enough that the points have actually expired before the prosecution (but won't protect you from a totting up based on the points when the offence occurred).

All the best

Keith

If you've forfeited the course and right to pay the reduced 60 pound fine you're probably going to be looking at a higher fine and possibly even more points as its now at the magistrates discretion.

I was stupid enough to ignore the invititation to take 3 points and pay 60£ for an 'unsafe' load and received a £220 fine plus 3 points - apparently the guidance is up to 6 points. I clearly lost out there!

Unless there are mitigating circumstances and you want to pay a good solicitor then I'd suggest ignoring these letters is a very stupid thing to do. Of course you will have to pay the court costs in addition to any fine they choose to give you...

When you admitted the offence then you don't run out of time...

Used to be, you could avoid it if you took too long to ascertain who was driving/riding... Which was 3 months!

Could do this by very slow communication, what charge? When? evidence please? then just at the end of the 3 months admit it (so you keep within the law) so when they get it the 3 months is up and they drop it!!! Helped if you got the ticket while driving a work van...

But once you admitted it the time frames change and they can take a reasonable time, which this is, to put you through the courts, which they have!

Should have taken the course Sad
