hi everyone im new to this forum and hoping many people have alot of input that may help me Very Happy iv got a weird but maybe simple problem iv got a 50cc 2007 gilera sp bought cheap to do as a project the main thing wrong is let me explain:

i start up it idles fine i warm up take off really fast revs go up to 9thousand then it bogs drops to 7 thousand and will not go over iv taken auto choke off and thats how it is now it was not going over 30mph before but now goes around that then bogs iv cleaned the carb iv got a main jet of 72 but the bikes got a leovince exhaust is that a problem or is it because the airbox i have is from a different bike lol??

any ideas will help me loads as just lost my job and need to get sorted and sold asap Sad

The first thing i would do is check what colour the spark plug is, as it's most likely running lean (if the plug is grey ish that will confirm this).

If the bike starts from cold without any problems then the autochoke is most likely working correctly. I would also recommend that you fit the standard air filter.

Il have a check of plug brown is normal with no airbox at all how would that make it look ( spark plug i mean) starts easier with choke off completly lol with on i have to rev or screw idle screw most of way in so im not sure im steering towards airbox tbh just didnt know if anyone had experince of tbe same

So when you run it with no airbox the plug is brown? If so running with the airbox would make it run rich, and then the choke would make it run even richer hence the trouble starting it.

I would make sure the air filter is clean and dry, refit it and the airbox, refit the choke and change the main jet to a 68 then see how the bike runs remembering to check the plug colour then rejet (if needed) to get it exactly correct.
