I know this is an often talked about subject but I', after a little more info.

I'm looking at a Gopro HD hero.

What kind of length of time will the battery last?
How long will a 32gb card record for in various settings?
Can it be connected to a power supply when in use?

Anything else?

I'm currently using a cheepy system with a bullet camera and recorder in the fairing pocket. Powered by a mini usb plug and will record for 12hrs on a 32gb card but the quality is pretty bad.

It's a good chunk more for the HD version, but I'd certainly consider the VIO. A bit better quality, can have the recording unit hidden, can get an external power supply in, can run in continuous loops mode (I believe), has a wireless remote.

gopro Hd you will get about 2.5 hours out of a 16gb card at 720p 60fps or or 1080p at 30fps, battery life is about 2.5 hours aswell so I considered it a perfect match as the 16gb card cost me 18 quid or so for a class 4.

What is VIO?

I can get a goPro hero HD for just over £150 at the mo.

Also a skeleton case for £30 ish which means you can plug in leads whilst in use.
Takes out the waterproof feature but use the normal case in the wet.

Would probably get a spare battery and charger for on the bike so I can keep it going.

Still deciding if I really want to spend it or save it towards my intended van purchase Confused

Ah, I see. £299 isn't so bad but the gopro is £155, on sale from £299

I'm using one of these at the mo. (below)
2 other people I know have them and both leaked and packed up. Mine leaked but I've stripped it, cleaned, coated the board and sealed it all up properly and now withstands the worst weather.
I think I'm going to go for one. I'll probably get a decent amount for my old one.

As for the van. I'm looking to spend around £2.5k on a combo or connect

Try £500 for the VIO HD bought in the UK?

Also, noted this was advertised at the bottom.
It's just another cheap 'key ring' camera, but does come with the ability to record while charging, which is nice - think 2gb was about half an hour on mine? So 16 hours from a big SD card, which is a decent day's riding for most people Smile.

Thats what I like about mine. No need to stop to do anything.
A 32gb card and powered via usb is real handy.

On a delivery to scotland and back it recorded 10:30am until 2:30 am and then 8am to 11:20am before running out of space. so over 19 hrs.

Have you seen Replay Cams

Vid's look really good.

$159.99 for cam with some mounts.
$78 for a 12 lighter cable to link to back of cam, for power all the time ( like the fact that it screws on to seal the back)

Can't seem to find any UK suppliers.

It does look good.

The 'water resistant' thing always puts me off. The GoPro is water proof down to 60m

Biggest thing with the GoPro is that it'll survive far more than either you or your bike will. I'm pretty sure it was someone on here that had a clip of one repeatedly touching down through Druids on Brands Indy, Sven or BlueSV maybe?

Personally I don't like the shape of the go pro - it's not convenient for most of the places you'd want to put it apart maybe from as a chest-cam, where it's shape makes more sense.

Water and going a little bit quick is the worst it'll get hopefully.

I'm off to buy one before the sale ends.

Hopefully it'll be here by the weekend Very Happy
