£1000 is a bit steep for a CBF125...

I'm 19, I ride a CBF125 and I live in an "alright" area of Essex - My insurance is £550 Fully Comp... I'd shop around mate.

Can't really think of anything else you would need - Maybe a set of Motorcycle trousers with the armour in? I've come off twice (though thankfully not on my own bike Laughing) and I can tell you, it hurts. A set of boots might be a plus too? How about a balaclava or facemask to wear under your helmet? It gets cold doing 60 for a while Laughing

And yeah, you will need a top box rack, and they are expensive but if you need a top box.... Smile

Happy riding. Thumbs UpSmile

Ah I see. Well, I am personally insured with Swinton - They get a lot of stick but I haven't had a problem with them... cheapest for me by far.

My insurance is with Swinton too, £400 pa on a YBR in a Lewisham council estate, am a little bit older though Smile

Don't see boots on the list, a must for me as I've heard trainers are easy things to come off in a fall - also handy in the rain though Smile I used an old pair of Doc Martins until I had enough for some Oxford Bone Dry boots. Guess any pair are better than trainers though.

Not convinced on a cover personally, cheap ones that don't attach under the bike blow off in the wind. Somebody nicked my first one, and mostly I can't be arsed to use the current one I have. A good coating in AC50 and I can't see any adverse effects from the bike being out in the rain Smile

Also a flip top helmet (in white!) has been pretty useful for me.

1k seems way too high for insurance. Have you tired thebikeinsurer

Its a comparison site specifically for bike insurance. It's always given me pretty cheap quotes.

Make sure you give a fake phone number and e-mail so you dont get spammed Brick Wall

This guy gets it Laughing

A Flip-face helmet is always handy, especially if you wear glasses like I do (or if you just can't be assed to take off your helmet when you get off your bike Laughing)

A bike cover is another good one... I just have a cheap one from www.getgeared.com... not great but it'll do. It clips on too which is good.

Thumbs Up

Timbalands are better than trainers, they'll certainly do until you can afford a set of boots. I've been riding for around 4 months now and I have only just got my first set of boots.

Also, have you thought about a set of waterproofs? I can't remember whether they were in your original list or not. They are worth their weight in gold in winter. Smile

The dealer should have thrown in a rack as part of the deal... haggle people haggle - they need the sales!!!

Oxford are a tad pricey for the quality... Although £25 is cheap, does it include postage?

Where is your Optimate battery charger?

£1K is too steep!!!

Fully comp I guess, could possibly get a better deal... Try aunty carol or ebike (I swear by ebike)...

Pinlock insert for helmet, they just make biking more pleasurable, fogging visors are a fogging nuisance.

HOW MUCH? Shocked

So you're paying £3500 (plus extras) to get on the road? So much for cheap motoring. There's no way I'd pay that to ride around on a budget Indian 125. I can't understand why you'd buy any new bike and park it on a sink estate, it'll be nicked or kicked over within a week. Neutral

You don't need an optimate it is also pretty useless if you don't have a Garage, which I assume the OP doesn't.

I'd be careful with any cover that attaches underneath if you are riding a light bike, fastening my cover underneath the bike pulled it over twice. Now the elasticated part just stays under the wheel and it hasn't been pulled over once.

Btw this was the cover I've been using below.

I beg to differ, found one invaluable over the past 8 years of riding, as soon as my g/f got her bike she bought one too (not garage or shed but easily wired up with an extra length of cable)... Used it within the month after an electrical fault occured and on very short journies (work and back 4 miles a day) as there is a lot of drain on the battery with daytime running lights, hot grips etc etc...

Always get a charger with you buy any vehicle, as well as jump leads and a petrol can!!!!
