 |
|
Life is funny sometimes, dispite my mum being a driveing instructor for years i never got arround to doing my test, i did however go out of my way spending allot of money doing my DAS because i couldn't see the point of haveing a licence and no car...
I'll do it at some point but...
I remember reading that some cars under a certain weight can be driven on a motorcycle licence, has anyone got any experiance of these? ive seen ones that are in current production but they are outrageously overpriced and just plain pants...
There is a fiat 500 being sold up the road, seems like the sort of car that would come into this catagory, it would be interesting little car with a 1000cc 4cylinder lump in it ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

This has been done a few times, look on your licence.
If you have category B1 you can drive a car under a certain weight (like 500kg I think). You will have this if you passed your bike test on or before around 1999.
If you do not have B1 on your licence, you cannot drive a car.
You CANNOT drive a car under category A.
Simple. ____________________ Yamaha TDM 850 |

Yeh i do remember now there being something meaning the licence needs to be before a certain date, i gor mine last year.. bugger... never mind..
I guess i will have to do the stupid car licence then, i still do fancy something small and stupid for a car though, as impractical as possible , with two seats and no boot, cba giveing lifts to everyone all the time
Thanks for clarifying though  ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes<

Simple - find out what category the vehicle is. If it's not on your licence, you can't drive/ride it. ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/fuzzbcf/

She hasn't got a bike licence tho
I've seen gsxr1000 engined smart cars, a bit nutty....
What would be involved in converting a small car to a bike engined car? something with a hydraulic clutch? worth the effort? (when i say small i mean like the fiat 500 sort of small...)
Something i wouldn't mind doing, would do allright for summer, or maybe something like geting a metro and turning it into a dune buggy ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Yes thats probably what will happen, i might have gotten away with it if i had done my test years ago, given up on the idea now.. Ive been driveing since i was 17, only my mum needs to be in the car at the time, just never bothered doing the test is all.. i couldn't afford to run a car and bike...
Sounds mad but i can do the test anytime, free lessons whenever i feel like it, i could (not meaning to sound big headed) go and do the test now with no problems...
Anyways i got a bike, sometime in the future i will be able to afford to run a small car, which will be good for winter, anything with 4 wheels.
Mrchips - yep thats what i ment about the stupidly priced ones, second hand they are stll £2500! which is an utter joke! my cousin just sold an Nreg 2liter turbo diesel for £500! i was almost given a mini. ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

In Germany these types of quadricycles are allowed to drive at maximum speed of 45 km/h, or 30 m.p.h. They conducted a crash test: a frontal collision between a (very small) Renault Twingo and a quadricycle (JDM Albizia), both cars driving 25 m.p.h. As you can see the results of this frontal crash were dramatic for the quadricycle:
https://www.adac.de/Tests/Crash_Tests/gkgk/default.asp?ComponentID=101479&SourcePageID=8645%230
Don’t you agree it would be plain suicide to drive this kind of car by a maximum speed up to 60 m.p.h. in the UK?
All the best,
Paul |
