I had a thought recently which would make my life easier, it went something like this

"Wouldn't it be cool if I could play Skyrim while the misses watched Come dine with me on the same tv, at the same time?"

Then I did some digging and well, that didn't help much but I'm hoping someone who knows more about AV equipment than me can help.

I know it's possible for split screen games to be displayed as a 3D image on some TV's and by modifiying some passive glasses you can half way do what I want (Clicky).

With that in mind I guess it's just a matter of taking 2 inputs, mashing them together and creating a 3D image for the tv to display.. No doubt easier said than done, but is it possible?

Sounds similar to what the range rover satnav does, (TV one side Satnav the other)

I don't see any problem with the theory the issue would be getting the inputs merged.

It would be easier to buy a new TV/montior.

On a Side note I have 2 x 22" LCD monitors for sale... Laughing

Right well the glasses usually shutter alternate eyes, but you want to make it shutter both eyes at once, but have the pairs of glasses shutter alternately?

So basically she gets 2 left eye lenses, you get 2 right eyes then you interlace the 2 images in real time and display them alternately.

The glasses would require bodging, but the interlacing will require some specialist hardware such as an HDMI 2 into 1 box then some integrated curcuit to switch between them in syncronous.
It's all doable but you're going to have to get some timing info out of the TV to the switch box...

I was hoping more for something off the shelf that would do this kind of thing, but I expect i'm a fair few years too early expecting to pick something like that up.

Looks like it can be done:

However I don't know if anyone makes what you want. It wouldn't surprise me if you see it in the future.

It'd be easier sideby side with passive 3D. Setting a PC up to do something similar shouldn't be impossible, how you'd get the sources on there is a different matter
