........for my street triple

Luggage - ive read around 30 topics on here about this but still not sure, only thing that keeps coming up is the lidl tank bag. does anyone know when these usually come up? what do people thing of this full set from ebay by AUTOKICKER are they water proof? heat proof?

Do these, or in fact any soft luggage in general, securely attach to the bike or is it a case of taking it off the bike when you're off the bike? does anyone else have any other recommendations?

I would eventually like a largish capacity for week long trips back home, and perhaps eventually europe. initially i will only require something large enough to hold my DSLR camera bag so it must be waterproof and must not bloody fall off! Is any tank bag going to obstruct my view of a handlebar mounted GPS?

Crash Protectors - well, i dont intend to fall off but who does? I only passed my test 20/12/2011 and dont fancy a big layout for repairing my bike. would a set of R&G CRASH PROTECTORS be a good idea? What about ENGINE CASE COVERS?. Anything else?

Out and about security - my bike is kept on the street at night, no other option (THREAD HERE) and as such i have ordered a 2.5m Almax (needs to be this long due to street layout) , but i dont really fancy carrying that about with me. i have a couple of crappy 10mm chains i bought just for something visual on the bike as a deterrent to the local chavs while i wait for my almax. ill get a cheapy alarmed disc lock but what else do i do while not at home? is it a case of sucking it up and putting another £150+ towards another 19mm chain? take a cover with me if going to be leaving the bike for extended periods? the bike has a datatool 4 alarm/immobiliser too.

Thanks

These are the engine covers to get. They're the mutt's nuts. I like crash bungs, I'd find a triumph specific forum and see which ones people recommend.

Soft luggage - panniers generally can't be removed without cutting through the straps (which go under your backseat) but everything else is nickable. I always put my valuables in one bag and take that with me, I don't really care if someone's going through my socks while I'm eating overpriced burger king at the services.

Kriega luggage is actually waterproof, most isn't so much.

I don't bother carrying a chain or anything around with me, I just park and what will be will be. Obviously this tactic does somewhat depend on where you leave your bike.

With regards to crash bungs - I have a full set of R&G on my gixer (front axle, rear/paddock stand bobbins, engine sliders and main crash bungs on the side) which cost a fair few quid now that I think about it. R&G do whole engine covers (HERE) that bolt over the top of your crankcases, or they do sliders (HERE) that create a high point on your engine. I can't comment on the engine case covers but the sliders are solid and made out of heavy duty stuff plus they blend in quite nicely with my engine. It took me about ten minutes to fit both sides with most of that spent trying to get the lid off the damm loctite!

Its all down to you really. I am glad that I fitted bungs etc on my bike as they should minimise any damage in low speed slips or spills. Don't feel that you have to go for R&G though, there are other brands out there which might be worth a look. Personally I am very happy with mine Thumbs Up

I carry 2 disk locks and a cheap chain.

If I leave it outside a hotel wherever i disk lock both wheels and lock it to anything, something is better than nothing and if possible park it where i can see it from the window

If it were me, I would buy a Kriega for my camera & valuables that I want to keep dry and any old toot for the rest of my stuff. Most of mine's Oxford stuff and has lasted me 10 years of intermittent use quite happily.
