Hi,
looking for a way to work on the bike, in the warm and dry. I dont have a garage or shed big enough.
Then, a brainwave. Il stick it in my room!! Theres an old wardrobe and shelf thing i dont need so they are going out the window! The plan is to partially restore the bike. The engine is quite rough, wheel bearings could do with renewing and the whole thing generally needs cleaning up.
So, rebuilding a bike in the house, yay or nay? Its not the worst ive done, i think turning the kitchen into a spray booth went down worse!
Photos if you've done it before.
EDIT: BTW, its got to get up the stairs, which have a 180 degree bent in them

Have fun with that.
Plenty of people work on bikes indoors.
I'd be keeping my bike in my flat if I could, but I think a second floor flat is a bit too ambitious (although my MTB is in the living room ). ____________________ My Flickr |

A friend of mine has built many-a-bike in his house. Not really a problem, except maybe getting it up those stairs ____________________ CBT Passed - 22 / 10 / 11 >> Theory Passed - 16 / 02 / 2012 >> Mod 1 Passed - 07 / 03 / 2012 >> Mod 2 Passed - 18 / 05 / 2012. |

Anyone else remember the thread where the blokes mrs was away for the week and he decided he would sneak the bike into the house while she was away so he could work on it and 'she'd never know'?
I think it was titled something like 'Getting petrol out of a carpet' or something. Poor fool had managed to empty his entire fuel tank over the living room shag-pile and it was essentially uninhabitable lol.
Ive considered bringing mine in to use as a seat in my 'man room', I think its doable lol. Just got to avoid getting lashed and firing it up at 3AM! ____________________ RS125 > CBR6 > SV650S > ZX636R > GSX1300RZ Hayabusa > 06 RSVR Mille > SV1000S > Street Triple 765 RS |

Last hols I had the road bike in the porch and the enduro in the hallway, but thats as far as they got, strictly storage. But upstairs? round a 180deg. corner? You'll need 4 people to carry it. |

Used to keep my DR600 in the hall, although I must admit it was only temporary accomodation, with no floor covering at the time. ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |

Hey,
My CG125 is currently living in my utility room. I couldn't stand seeing it left out in the cold any longer so brought it in to the warm.
I do plan to strip a lot of the metal parts off and have them powder coated and also fix the minor but very annoying oil leak.
I'm lucky to have a non nagging misses (Seems quite a rarity). She doesn't care if its inside, mainly because she will be using it also
As for the house insurance people; What they don't know won't hurt them.
Cheers,
Shaun R. |

Mine lives in the hallway, dining room when Im working on it. I just put a plastic tarp on the carpet. Best of all it was the landlords idea! ____________________ Quietly and consistently taking the piss.
