right.I'm rebuilding my rs 125 and i wanted to do something really different so i have started to street fighter it.Whilst doing this i was going to get the rear seat conversion which takes it to a single seat. But iv seen loads of these so i thought ill cut the rear seat off and properly convert it to a single seat as iv seen a few and i love the look.Anyways iv spent hours trying to perfect this.I'm not far from finishing now but im getting fed up of people telling me it looks wank.So those of you out there who are a dab hand with photoshop and all that jazz,if you can design me something that looks decent, can fit brake lights, indicators, number plate, number plate light which i like the look off then i will make it and ill pay you £20..a sort of commission design thingy maboby. So here's a pic of where i am.The only thing i was going to change was the number plate size and to add indicators. They are not proper brake lights, just print off so i could see the finished outcome..Get designing!!!
PM me if you want more pictures, dimensions etc etc ____________________ red bull gives you wing sting!!!

If you're that unsure: have you looked online? websites such as twinshack do custom parts for bikes, race fairings, single seat units etc. I doubt twinshack would do one for an rs125 however i'm sure there's something out there.
Also, had you considered getting a different subframe and making that fit? you could do less work and end up with a pretty attractive back end, all you'd need to do is fit the subframe - may take some cutting/welding bits and bobs, but i doubt no more than you've gone through to make this. Anything off any bike will fit, just varies in amount of work and effort.
On the other hand, the back end is YOURS, and the bike is YOURS. It's no good asking what we think of it, if it looks good to you and you're proud of it, considering you made the thing then f**k em, opinions vary from person to person, but being your bike, its your opinion that counts most.
finally, changing the size of the number plate would only make you a police magnet, if they're bored/had a bad day/generally an arsehole then you'll just get a fixed penalty and 3 points... is it worth it?

I read your other posts about this on the other thread; Show me yours..(?) Loads of work has gone into this but I reckon you started building without a 'very' specific idea of what it was going to look like, and IMHO therein lies the problem. If it were me I would find a pic of a similar, even if it is bigger or uglier (if that is possible) and do a bit of mimicking.
I just started a cafe project, for me anyway, I needed a wall full of inspirational pics, now I just got to make it all fit together, or find someone else who is a specialist to contribute to make it happen, whilst this is all happening I got my theory test tomorrow, but thats ok, cause for Christmas santa brought me a copy of The worlds fastest Indian adding nicely to my image of the final machine ____________________ Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. As a few of us said in Workshop, just do it yourself, only you know what you want! Personally I think the standard RS on the RS looks great |

Looks dusty, looks like the tank has no filler cover. Looks like you might create problems further down the line ____________________ Fallen Angel "Nae sniffing my seat now!!!!! "

thanks for all your input.i spent a few hours last night trying to find pictures of something like what i want but all the others that do it shoot up at the rear end and i aint keen on that look.so im gonna stick with it and see how it comes out.i hadn't thought of changing the whole subframe so thanks for that idea.and thats just the petrol tank cover.the actual tank is stored inside nice and dry ____________________ red bull gives you wing sting!!!

Make the plate the biggest part of the tail piece. Use a single strip of red LEDs across the top and one of amber ones down the sides of the plate for the lighting.
You'd need at least one white LED pointing at the plate and a red reflector somewhere on the back of the bike to be legal. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Ok a little bit of googling an I found something that might work quite well for you.
Thread here https://www.customfighters.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1034617
https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5254/5524039893_8fdf4f3832.jpg
I've pretty much copied that tail design for your bike as it looks striking enough and keeps things simple,
two rules I like to follow from a design point of view...
Only I've elongated the sides to cover much of the subframe down to where it meets the frame.
https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/RSSFdesign.jpg
The led's are combined rear light/ brake light/ indicators, made by street magic. They are called 'Dynamic clusters' and are available here https://customdynamics.com/led_billet_circle.htm
(look down the page).
I suppose if you were to be lazy you could simply drill into the tail and mount them on the end or you could make a sunk in shroud for them as the guy on that forum has.
As for the number plate, I'd be dubious about actually putting it there without making sure that you have sufficient clearance for the wheel at maximum travel.. but it's merely an example.
If you could though and were happy to do that then I'd make a bracket out of sheet steel or aluminium and mold around it with fibreglass when making the seat unit.
I did this trick when I made a bracket for my rear light on the CD and the end result was 100 times better and stronger than I could have imagined.
Fibreglass integral moulded mount trick :
1.https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/Photo0058.jpg
2.https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/Photo0101.jpg
3.???
4.PROFIT https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/MOAR009.jpg?t=1317265445
Otherwise you could use velcro and simply attach the registration plate to the underside of the unit, IE on the slanted part above the wheel.
Or you could side mount behind the foot plate, a common street fighter, cafe racer and chopper/bobber option but usually done with a small brake light, to void the need for a tail.
I wouldn't suggest this option for that reason but just putting it there for consideration.
Cheers,
Mac. |
