Was a clients this morning when I heard the alarm on my bike go off looked out of the window to see a bunch of kids running off around the corner and my bike on the floor

Got the bike off the floor and found that the bug screen was cracked and the front brake lever bent

I was thinking of taking the screen off anyway but now have to get a new lever for it which has left me feeling rather annoyed to say the least.

One of the most demoralizing experiences of owning a bike, is seeing some cock knock it over and walk of denying it / run off or generally returning to your bike to find it on its side for that matter...

Sorry to hear your bikes bashed, on the upside if its just a lever then it could have been an awful lot worse!

Once, only once, I came out of Tescrap to see some little youngster sitting on my bike. Daddy holding him on, poor kid must have only been about 4 or 5. I just looked at daddykins and asked if I can go sit on the bonnet of his car. When he said no I told him to take his kid off my bike.

The bastard looked at me like I was the one being unreasonable.

Now I'm the most reasonable person in the world when it comes to creating new bikers. In fact one time I had a little old lady, oddly enough in the same shop, ask if it was my bike outside as her grandson was standing out there drooling at it. Sure enough I went out and the young lad was standing looking at the bike. A little chat later saw the youngster sitting on the bike with the engine running and him revving it with a mad grin on his face.

My clutch lever is simple...undo bolts, drop bolts, find bolts, twist lever, remove the ball of the cable from the lever and put in the new one.

Jut been up the road to the bike shop which got the hornet back on the road for me to see if the new rear pads had come in for it. Mentioned to Kev the owner what had happened and he is going to get a new lever for me and fit it at same time he does the pads.

Local Alcho downstairs from me saw me last year, said how much he liked the bike and asked if he could get a pic of him sitting on it. Not a problem said I. Big cheesy grin and picture later he staggered off happy.

I'll let every one and their dog sit on the bike if they so wish to, but on my terms. Ask or offered.

Imagine what a car driver would say if he got out of the shop to find you sitting in the drivers seat? He'd do his nut. I dont understand why its different for bikes. Or why people think its different.
