London congestion charge and trikes

Hi all
I've heard that as trikes don't have a front number plate they don't have to pay the London congestion charge as the cameras only read front number plates.
does anyone know if this is true or an old wives tale Very Happy

Motor tricycles

If you drive a motor tricycle which is one metre or less wide, and two metres or less long, you're eligible for a 100 per cent discount.

To register, apply in writing and enclose photographs of the vehicle (front, back and side) showing the Vehicle Registration Mark (VRM) along with a copy of the registration document (V5C) and a £10 registration charge.

*Only skinny trikes go free in London then*

Whats the point of going thro all that! Dont bother registering and just ride thro anyway. If the cameras can only read front plates then a NIP is impossible to reach you. If your questioned, your vehicle is obviously exempt anyway. Would I be wrong in assuming no offense has been commited?

Well thanks for the google quip Sad obviously I checked the legal aspect first. What I was trying to find out here was other bikers actual experiences as my trike is much larger than the max exemption.
I've heard that TFL have roving cameras that wander around the zone picking people up that the cameras missed.
So in simple terms. Has anyone riding a trike been done for not paying the congestion charge? And yes I did google it first !!

If I were you id just pay the charge. It sucks ass but there we go. If you risk it and get caught then it serves you right for riding a trike Laughing

I believe if you don't have a front number plate it won't even detect you its ANPR, which means it doesn't even realise you have gone through.
