Applying parafin

Hi guys, I always heard/read people saying they use parafin to clean the chain, cheap and good enough.
Sorry the stupid question, but what's the best way to apply it?
So far I have only used those spray chain cleaners.

Put some on the bristles of one of these or soak it onto the chain with a rag and then scrub away!

Makes it a lot easier to clean the chain than using a toothbrush.

Chain brush above is probably cheap but you can tape two toothbrushes together by the handles with gaffa tape.

Use them both horizontally and vertically on the chain almost as good as a shop chain brush.

Alternatively hold a rag soaked in paraffin around the chain and spin the wheel slowly, this gets lots of crap off (be carefully not to snag the rag in the sprocket or leave bits of rag in the chain).

While this may be obvious to most, FFS don't attempt to clean a chain with the rear on a paddock stand and the bike running and in first gear so the wheel turns...

Had to stop a mate who's been a biker of twenty odd years doing it the other day, he couldn't even explain why he was about to attempt it himself as he never had before...

I have that chain brush, its very good. i'd recommend it. way better than any toothbrush
