... and the application process is bloody ridiculous. They have given me a psychometric test, 2 mail sorting quizes, they want to know the last 5 years of my life work and non work (can't have a gap of more than 14 days without explination), and loads of other sections.

Didn't realise a job like delivering post would be such a ball ache to apply to. I've had much higher paid jobs that had an easier application process than this. Well all done now, spent all day yesterday and another half day today racking my brains trying to piece together the last 5 years of my life with dates etc.

Anyone else had to drop their expectations/standards and take any job?

Depressing as hell but not as depressing as staying home finding work.

25 hours a week X £8.18 per hour X finish at 2:30-3:00pm everyday X looking for other work in spare time = WIN

I've heard that they are pretty good to work for, I know a few people that do it.

I had a job at PC World a few years ago, it was stupid the things I had to do. I was 16 at the time, I had 2 tests, one on maths and english, and one like an attitude test. Not once was I asked if I knew anything about computers...

I think alot of companies these days are doing horrendously long applications, just to drive the application numbers down.

If it takes an hour to do a application, I imagine a fair few people, especially the lazy scum you don't want, or those who don't really want the job, will just give up and not bother.

Oddly the link they provided to the application was incorrect and came to a "Sorry...." page. Which forced me to find it myself which I presume will drop the applications down even further. Hopefully i've bagged an interview.

I'm actually looking forward to it, they claim 8mile average walk a day if your assigned the walking postie route.. im well up for getting fit, and getting fit while working is a big plus.

You wont do any good in the post, because they stopped hiring full time contracts around 5 years ago, part time and casual staff only im afraid.

This means youll be on a part time contract and have next to no rights, its awful but thats just the way it is.

Prepared to be fucked around alot, but if you dont mind it too much there is plenty of overtime available.

The reason why i dont do bad in the post is because im on full time contract inside London and i work Saturday so a 6 day week.

Im also good with my money.

I currently own a Nissan 350Z

But i pay £400 PCM rent
£530 goes into savings a month

The rest is free money Smile

Presumably the interview process is designed to see how much shit you'll eat and ask for more, since that's what you'll be fed once you're on the job and being yelled at to deliver more and more in less and less time.

Did you pass if you could write the date and your name on the top of the paper?

I went into a PC World yesterday to buy a new router and I asked the guy which was the better make, between two that did the same things and were priced indentically.

He didn't actually answer the question, but he did mumble a bit and then tell me "It's all to do with the width of your band mate" Rolling Eyes

Doesn't surprise me, I wasn't very well liked there as I didn't try and sell things people didn't want. If someone only wanted something basic to do letters or something, thats what I sold them.

I can remember getting told off for not selling Norton Anti Virus to someone, they didn't have the internet for christ sake...I walked out soon after that.
