Something I've been seeing a lot of recently is people typing "brought" where the context would call for the word "bought". As in they are describing something they purchased, not something they took with them.

I can't see how it could be a typo on either QWERTY or DVORAK keyboard layout.

This leads me to conclude that either:

a) They think they have typed the correct word.

OR

b) I've missed some sort of internet meme and it's a bit like the whole teh thing.

So. Illiterate fuckwits or stinkwheel falling behind on his grasp of youth culture?

Heh what about paid and payed?

This causes minor chagrin.

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=payed
Quote:

108 up, 61 down

Often used by people who have no grasp of the English language. The correct spelling is "Paid", which is of course the past tense of the word "Pay".
Payed.

Billy was shattered to discover that he had been spelling the word "paid" incorrectly for so many years. Longing for the sweet release of death, he proceeded to swallow a razor blade to escape his shame.

I axed it but it just comes up with examples of the correct useages of both words.

How do I axe it to show me people doing it wrong?

More importantly, who would win out of a bareknuckle fight between Kickstart and a Koala doped with ketamine?

Lookup ESL teaching websites and foreign English learning websites.

Websites like this:

https://www.learnenglish.de/mistakes/CommonMistakes.htm

ESL forums are quite amusing tbh. You get people who are pretty terrible in their English usage go overseas and teach people.

Nothing should not be pronounced nothink. It should certainly not be pronounced noffink. The number 3 should be said as three not free, and never fwee.

I thought I fought three forts.
Ah fort ah fort fwee forts. Sick

lose and loose is another one. You chain looks lose mate.
of and off. I brought it of the internet.

etc
Lack of full stops is probably the worst one though, if i see a 4 line post without a full stop or capitol letter to indicate when i new sentence starts i find it impossible to know what they fuck they're on about!

There is a guy who works in my office, in a reasonably senior role, who actually SAYS 'brought' instead of 'bought'. I thought I was hearing things the first time it happened, but there have been several subsequent occassions confirming his fucktardery.

There is little hope when those that complain are unaware of their own failings.

Can someone borrow me alot of grammar?

Sadly, when I see "lose" spelled correctly on the intardtubes, I do a double take because it's starting to look wrong. Sick

I am prone to being a bit lazy on forums, in real life though I proof read everything before passing information on. I hate with a passion, the letter H being pronounced haitch and not aitch, of instead of have, borrow instead of lend and so on. I do not understand why people don't read books or take an interest in world affairs.

I am not ashamed to admit that I am glad that I took my education seriously.

This thread made me chuckle. I am obviously not the only grumpy sod unable to tolerate illiterate idiots.
