WWWWHHHAAARR WHOOGA WHEEP WHEEP BWAAAAHHHHHH HOO HOO HOO AAAARRRRGFGHGHGHGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I passed my DAS test, and as per the norm not without incident either!

I got one minor mark for distance between me and a car in front, although I don't remember being that close, however it was wet, raining a little and the examiner was in a car so I can see how it could happen Very Happy

Damn, he had me pull over 4-5 times to test me pulling out on hills, flat and when he was blocking my view. He was a very nice chap though, the human touch does go a long way to calming the nerves, I can only hope he reads this some day and sees just how much the human touch means to the pupil!

About 2 miles or so from the end of my test I had a road narrowed due to obstruction and *had* to ride over a oil or diesel patch! Shocked After that I was riding like a learner on their first day because with that and the wet the bike kept trying to fishtail!

Also I'd left the examiner behind near the test centre so he had told me to turn into the street but not the test centre, so I ride passed (kung-foo grip had returned Very Happy ) then came the instruction pull into the test centre, so I pulls over to the side of the road. I saw him turn into the test centre in his car and I sat there for what seems an eternity thing, WTF do I do now? then came that voice, hes out of site get the fking bike round as fast as you can! So with a road full of cars I performed my second flawless u-turn of the day! Thumbs Up Shocked Laughing At the end of the day we are expected to get ourselves out of trouble, plus while the examiner was out of site I had the chance to perform a u-turn with anonymity in order to follow his last instruction.

WHOOT PASSED! just need a nice CBR 600 <anything> now Thumbs Up Very Happy

Well done chaps. Thumbs Up

Stryker - Hope the sit on the bike inspired you, I won't take all the credit though! Wink

I passed my test in the morning and rode straight over to the garage and bought a new bike.

Edit - Forgot to ask.

Stryker - When the new bike and how much you looking to spend?

Rodger - What bike you got/looking to get then?

I've just got to release funds from one of those high interest rainy day accounts and I'll have upto/about £2,000 to spend on a bike..... well it aint raining but its an emergency, this man needs a bike! Mr. Green

I'm looking for an older CBR600 or a new one if someone wants to part with 2k for it Shocked Laughing

Cor looks like there's a Sutton posse! Wink

I'm in Sutton, won't be getting much social riding done for a while though. Most of my time is taken up with my 12 week old son when I'm not working.

Any idea what sort of bike you're after?

Edit - They've got a Hornet over at Sutton Motorcycles if anyone is interested, it's not a CBR but it uses the CBR engine for £2595. With a bit of bartering I'm sure they'd come down on price. They are really good first bikes and it's not a bad mileage for the price/year. I can't praise Sutton enough either, in fact there's a thread in the Midlands section with quite a few good comments about them.

Is that the one I've just stuck in the Edit at Sutton?

There's a website called www.westmidsriders.co.uk that gather at Bassetts on a Thursday and arrange ride outs too if you are interested?

Ooh thanks, may drop by for a look round the bikes this weekend.

Yep, my first choice is going to be a CBR600, though given a few weeks with no result then anything on two wheels will do Laughing Thumbs Up

Congrats mate Very Happy Hopefully be me on Tuesday!

I started my DAS today, surprised myself and the instructor, to the extent that he actually took me back to a car park, we swapped bikes, and I ended up on the 500 for the rest of the day, a day ahead of schedule! I'm actually finding it easier on the bigger bike anyway, less pissing around worrying about being able to get up hills or screw around with the gears!
