Going to change my oil soon, was thinking of keeping it and using it as chain grease, however got nothing to store it in and it will have to be stored outside, anyone got any ideas of what container to use Question

With a lid, a bucket wouldn't be much cop.

An old plastic milk bottle? I just use an old oil bottle - oil comes out of bike, new oil in bike, old oil into oil bottle.

This, just be sure to mark it with a marker or some thing so you dont get the old and new mixed up.

The plastic containers will degrade in sun 'eventually', most likely becoming brittle.
It's both messy and potentially toxic if spilled, it would be better indoors.

Ive had bottles of oil sat outside for ages without the bottles going brittle or leaking (Other than when Ive knocked them over!), Unless you have it sat outside for many years I doubt that would be a issue.

If you're worried you can always get something like this:

https://www.difflock.com/buyersguide/newproducts/oil-drain-pans/10ltre_recycling.jpg

You can just drain the oil from the bike straight into that and be able to take it to the tip in it as well.

[UPDATE]
Hah, exactly what Joe just posted!

Halfraud and probably others sell this oil drainer, a brilliant bit of kit. Nothing to transfer, nothing to spill, just drain into it, replace the bung, and there's your oil neatly bottled.

People say this but do you know anyone that keeps their oil in a cointainer for years in the sun and has it break?

I will rephrase my original post. Anything with a sealed lid. e.g. bottle

I've had some outside, (although under cover) in old screenwash containers. Never leaked or looked like they might.
Been there a couple of years now.

Thank you everyone, can't really keep it indoors. Not allowed keep it in the kitchen under the sink or in my room and have no shed/garage unless I'm able to steel the pantry It has to stay outside.

In a broken green house. With coming into some cash was looking for something like the container as I threw away my old oil container and won't use my full one when topping it up.

If you have a wooden fence, why not use the old oil to paint/preserve the fence?, it`s what I do!

I have one like this, but it also has a spout/nozzle like on a petrol can, makes emptying it without a mess easy as pie. The one Joe pictured oesn't look so good as it can't be stood on its end with that big cap there Neutral Silly design imo.
Here's what I have;

Hi

Oil containers normally seem to be pretty good at resisting degradation with age and the sun.

However the cheapo containers used for stuff like screen wash seem to suffer far more quickly and severely.

All the best
