Any insurance company will try to beat other companies quotes, when they come back with the quote just say "I've just been quoted £(their quote take away away a bit or a real quote) can you beat it?" it doesn't matter if you havn't actually had a quote which is lower than theirs as they'll just ask how much and who from (remember to have some insurance company names to hand:lol:) and will see if they can beat it. Call all the companies listed in the back of bike trader, then ring back between the cheapest few and haggle the price down until none of them will go any lower. It might take a whole afternoon but you can save hundreds on your insurance in that time.

I remember seeing a list of companies and the amount they quoted being posted quite a while back.
I think it was bendy who posted it.
I've tried searching for it but i cannot find it.

Thing is that list is for whoever posted it, if you and i tried the same companies we would get totally different numbers.

All you can do is try them all mate or just give your details to danny and he'll do it on your behalf.

There's quite a comprehensive list on BikersHeaven.co.uk - Point & Click.

Basically the same as the back of MCN BikeMart or BikeTrader but probably with a few more aswell so that lot should keep you busy for a day or two.

I recently just insured my Rs250 for another 12 months, my renewal from Rampdale was £510 tpft, after a few phone calls all above £800 I was getting rather edgey. Then Dyer & Holmes, CIA, Virgin, Elite, BikerLine Direct, ProBike, MCE and also Simply Bikes all gave me quotes for around £350 tpft which was a big relief!

I then rang them all back with my best price to see if they could better it - some did, some couldn't and some wouldn't - and I ended up pricing 2 off against each other. I managed to get it down to £230 tpft, £250 excess with legal & breakdown included aswell as 30 days EU cover and I think puncture repair cover too with MCE. Excellent service from them and for an insurance company, I couldn't reccomend anyone better.

One thing I learnt is, don't tell them your best, ask them for their best quote for you, not one that just undercuts your current best by a few quid! If they can't beat your best, then tell them to see if they can be tempted any lower, if not move on... I found out aswell that MCE use the same brokers as ProBike (also known as BikeWise) and they said whatever they quote me, that they (MCE) should always be able to undercut it within reason, and they can always check the details so no point making them up.

Also, I found using the PC helped alot by using MS Excel and putting all the details like company name, phone number, reference number, type of cover, 1st quote, 2nd quote and so on if applicable, then price for extra's like legal, breakdown, puncture, clothing, foreign travel and anything else like teleperson's name. You then have all the detail quickly to hand in a neat setup.

They did nicely for me too, I'd recommend trying them if you're on a 125 since they specialise in 'em.
