The bike cuts out after 1 to 2 miles and then cannot start for 24hrs, before it dies it gradually loses power until it finally stops.

Any help would be much appreciated?

Have you checked your oil?

Is your choke operating properly...check the cable isn't stuck forcing the choke to stay on.

Check your fuel tap...do you have fuel, are you on reserve, is the tap flowing fuel freely?

Whats the spark plug like ? A new plug may help the rough running.

Also the air filter - its not blocked is it ? Or missing altogether ?

Is the engine rattly, or does it sound ok ?

Any smoke from the exhaust ?

hi i had the same problem with my rs 125

is it overheating? as mine used to cut out after doing a mile or so and wouldn't start until it had cooled down, due to thermostat was knackered so there wasn't a constant flow cooling down the engine.

Also take the carb off clean the jets and clean air box out also filter from fuel tank

after doing this not had a problem since hope you get it fixed Thumbs Up

Won't be overheating due to a faulty thermostat as the DR125 is air-cooled so doesn't have a thermostat.

If it's overheating, the spark plug electrode will be white when removed, so that can be checked pretty easily.

Has the bike still got an air-filter ? Removing the air-filter can make these overheat due to the fuel mixture becoming too lean.

As others have said, check the engine oil is the correct level in the sight glass, and top up if necessary.

Cleaning out the carb is a good idea too, can be done quite easily by undoing the drain screw, which will flush out any debris immediately at the bottom of the float bowl. For a more thorough clean, remove the carb and unscrew the float bowl and give it a good clean up. Inside the carb are brass jets which the fuel flows through. If there is any muck in the bottom of the carb then this can block these jets and stop the engine. They can be blown out until clear. If you have found alot of muck in the bottom of the carb then buy a fuel filter for a quid which will keep everything running sweet.
