I know how you all love your Honda V-four 400's.
Just came across this motor, if anyone's interested.

https://www.ebay.de/itm/Honda-VFR-400-NC24-Motor-RVF-400-/120840888192?pt=Motorrad_Kraftradteile&hash=item1c22ad9f80

This auction has nothing to do with me, I am in no way connected to the sale of this motor. Came across it while looking for YPVS parts. Posted it in case anyone needs a spare.

Hmmm..... Is that a little bit too nice to not stick in a go kart?

NC24's are old and crap anyway so there's no reason why it shouldn't go in a kart.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

just as reliable and tough as a 30 engine, also 59BHP, plus has thicker cylinder walls so can be bored out more, also uses standard spark plugs so can save on the expensive 30 plugs, and also has a 180 firing order. and also and also and also,

there are a few ups to this motor people seem to overlook.

The NC24 motor will indeed fit, theres a user on here that has one fitted.

You will need, ECU, coils (it has 4) and loom, not sure how well the rev-counter will work, might need a 24 one.

They are both NC13E engines you are correct, they share a common crankcase set.

There is a whole lot of difference internally.

The NC30 fires 360, different crank, totally different top-end (valvetrain system) pistons are different too, as well is the gear-box.. the NC30 has that notoriously tall 1st gear.

Here's a brief summary of pro's and con's of the 24 engine

NC24 motor will take more effort to fit.

However, both make 59ps as stock from Honda.

Many Japanese racers have the 24 engine as they say it's easier to work with.

The NC24 engine uses standard size 10mm bike plugs.. you can get them cheaper and in a wider variety of choices (if tuning / fettling is your choice) with the 30 your stuck with expensive er9-eh or the racing equalivalent.

The NC24 comes with a radiator oil cooler as standard.

The NC24 doesn't have such a long first gear. (it does use 15/45 stock gearing as opposed to 15/40 so you might want to think about your rear sprocket if you fit it.. should be fun with 15/40)

The NC24 has lock-nut adjusters for the valve clearnaces.. this means you don't have to buy any shims when adjusting valve clearances.

I like the 180 firing order.. it's similar to the NC30 sound but more on par with a VFR750/800.

But the chassis's are all old and shagged by now, so no point. Hence the (half decent) engine should go in a kart!
