A bit of market research...
I'm considering making hydraulic clutch conversion kits for cable clutched bikes.

I've sourced a supplier for slave cylinders and braided lines, and would be using fully serviced second hand master cylinders of your choice.

Would anyone be interested in this if it was available? Costs would be around £100-200 for the kits, and made to order, which considerably undercuts the competition.

Suggestions, questions and interest. Go

I wouldn't. £200 is a lot of clutch cables.

No. My bike runs hydraulic as standard.

It has no feel, is too light and the seals weep on a boringly regular basis.

Im changing it to a cable type from TL1000S.

I would have bought one for the Buell but the one advertised didn't guarantee a reduction in effort to pull the clutch. So I didn't bother. it was quite a bit less than £200 as I recall, and was made by Magura.

I think I'd rather have a cheaper Magura than a £200 no-name unless it really did make the Buell clutch as light as a feather. Anyway, I've had a better solution forced upon me now, I've got another bike with a lighter clutch.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I considered it a few months ago. But gawped at the price.

I then thought about bikes which would have a hydralic clutch as standard. And I thought of the VFR750.

You can buy the VFR750 hydralic clutch system off evilbay for about £20.

I then noticed there simply wasn't anyroom on the bars to put it on and no convenient mounting points for the slave cylinder on the engine case.

So I bought a new cable instead for £14.

A common misconception. You can't just unbolt the clutch cable and fit a vfr slave cylinder.

Sure I know after having a look into it. But as said in the end I realised it wasn't really worth it and got a new cable instead to save the hassle and the money.

My thought is you're looking at the wrong market you should be targetting dispatch riders or something. People who ride all seasons all day long. As while a great many of us may well commute on motorbike I'd bet a lot more of us would rather be whizzing about on country lanes than city riding.

Wotcha.

Go on then - I'll have one.

Even after in the first post stating this, there's still the need to say ''no, I already have a stock hydraulic clutch'' Laughing

There's a pretty large market for offroad stuff apparently, that's what I was basing the prices on. Clearly road bikes aren't quite the same. Ah well, research over.

As for preaching to the wrong audience... this is a bike forum, who else do I ask?

Margay, link to these magura kits? I wouldn't mind one for the CRF if they're as cheap as you say. All I can find is this one that seems to retail at £282.99... Which is pretty much identical to what I'd be making, at a fraction of the cost.
