So there's this Hungarian guy in my mechanics group who just passed his cbt 2 weeks ago
This is his bike

A garage installed a alarm with remote start feature for him a week ago, and we was all in theory when his alarm went off. He deactivated it and the alarm "speaks" ... " alarm deactivated".. someone thought that was cool, then he goes "Watch this"
Also think it's about time to say there is a guy next to his bike warming up his scooter.
Anyway he hit the button. The bike started up. moved 3 feet forward dragging on the stand before it folded in the bike fell over Knocked the scooter over and almost crushed the guy.
There was 6 of us looking out this window and it was just complete silence for 5 seconds. The guy warming up his bike had no idea what just happened. The owner ran downstairs to the bike to discover A snapped mirror. a bent stand.. Cracked farings. Both indicators snapped off and a scratched can. Gutted
We all went outside to check on the poor scooter rider. he had a little scratch on the foot panel. Nobody claimed anything ofcourse. I was speaking to the scooter guy and he was told me he was putting his gloves on thinking about "how nice the bike is even know it's a hyosung" and it started up and attacked him.
It was a total camera moment. I thought i had tripped out.. I almost cried for him, new rider £2300 bike.. nice bike too.
What now? Back to the garage and find out why the f*ck they didn't wire it up so it only works in neatrual?
Crazy day.

 That's even funnier than your post admitting to following my advice to spoon two stroke oil through your spark plug hole to find out how big the cylinder was!

They dont actually call it 'remote' start for this very reason, they call it 'Key-Less'..... the alarm remote capable of replacing the entire ignition key-lock.
When you 'activate' the key-less operation, the alarm takes power from the battery feed and puts it the bikes 'ignition switched' supply, by-passing the ignition switch, via the 'current sense' wire that monitors for voltage on the ignition switched circuit for, on a car, an interior light coming on, or on a bike an atempt at hot-wiring...
If you follow the instructions on some of the alarm systems, it tells you to take a wire straight to the starter solenoid for the remote start function.
Most bikes have starter inhibit switches; often on the clutch, the neutral warning indicator and possibly on the side stand.
IF these 'inhibits' are on the 'earth' side of the solenoid, and on many bikes they are...... then putting volts direct to the solenoid WONT engage the starter, becouse its turned 'off' by the bikes standard inhibitors...
However, IF the inhibitors are all switching on the +ve side of the solenoid...... well.... as you see, putting volts direct to the solenoid by-passes them all, and you have been lucky enough to see the results!
You would THINK that a garage was clued up enough, and professional enough to have checked this.... BUT obviousely not, and I suspect that they will claim they 'simply followed the instructions' that came with the alarm... though pretty sure there ought to be a warning for it SOME-WHERE in there!

I have fitted Cyclone V2's to two of the Super-Dreams, and they have the 'Keyless' operation feature.
I didn't use it.
I'm fitting another Cyclone to the DT, and the keyless start is pretty much redundant... much as I like the idea, I dont think that putting 12v on the kick-start will do much good!
However; I did contemplate using it as the feature is intended for 'key-less' operation; and using the alarm and the key-fob instead of a conventional ignition barel & key.
Security wise, it has some merit... imagine little scroats trying to nick the thing, looking for a lock to smash and not able to find one!
On a'special', where you want a 'clean' look or are starved of space, may have some more uses....
On a fuel injected bike, where you dont need to use choke to get the thing to actually start... you COULD I suppose use it to get the bike 'warmed up' before you go outside into the cold....
But on a carburated bike, where you probably have to go fiddle with the choke....
My eldest got one for his GPz5... beginning of Uni-Year, Student Loan burning a hole in his pocket.....wired in the remote start... wowed every-one at the college bike club remote starting it for a week until the novelty wore off..... Come Christmas.... he was round mine, and edging to go out; and I suggested he use the R-S to get the bike idling and warmed up while he was still in the house..... MOST comical.... as expected it wouldn't start..... so half suited, he ran out onto the drive in his long johns, and tickled teh choke, ran BACK into the house and tried R-Sing it again..... didn't work.... so he ran BACK out, gavce it full choke, then back in and RS'd it again..... thing started and he looked at me with a smug self satisfied grin..... then, as it warmed up, engine started racing on choke, and half suited had to run BACK out and turn the choke down!

Wish I could call bullshit purely on the fact if the stand folded in it wouldn't have scratched the exhaust as its on the wrong side.
But its a lol story none the less... maybe he should have the sidestand switch and the clutch switch present..
Again another reason why I would love to call bullshit.
But like I said lol.

It was a "Oh shit" and a "Lol" moment combined into one. the guy looked like he was about to cry.
Now you have said it. i don't understand how the exhaust is scratched either it did happen.. I didn't see the full extent of the damage i walked over to the bike when he was picking plastic up, but i just seen on his facebook

I actually picked up a little orange piece of Hyosung plastic paint flake of the ground after he left. it's in my pocket

I liked my remote start when working in an office - meant I could warm the bike up (wheelie road just outside work) without waiting around five minutes.
Also good for scaring colleagues walking past  .
Not so good was my personal derp moment when using it at home - got to Slough and realised I'd left the keys at home, which wasn't great as this was at a point I needed fuel! |

A mate of mine had a simular problem when he rode this RS250 track/road bike to work which had no ignition key switch but the fuel tank still had the lockable cap on but he had left his keys at home. We had to take the fuel tank off, turn it upside down and removed the fuel tap so we could fill it up using a paper funnel into the hole were the fuel tap went.

i had a remote start on a chinese scooter i had
only thing i found it good for was scaring the shit out of the paperboy
it also had a one press thing to turn the electrics on and i managed to do this putting the key in my pockets more then once only to have a flat battery the next morning after a 12 hour shift 
i ended up disconnecting it all

I wouldn't want to start my bike unless I was close enough to it, and if I was that close then surely I'm close enough to physically start it 
for making me laugh though. I needed that.
