Mod 1 on thursday afternoon!

I have to go to Enfield to do it (why are there no test centres in central London? Its only a mod 1 in a car park? I have to travel 13 miles to get to it!)

I'm doing it w/o an instructor (rode for almost 2 years on CBT & practice my arse off in morrisons car park!)

But more importantly nervous about the emergency stop on my CG with front drum brakes.

Will this really be a problem, cause basically they are crap, and don't know if the examiner will note the difference between the controlled stop and the emergency one!

Start by clearing all negatives out of your head....you are using the CG, no doubt you trust the bike after all this time? Have a bit of faith in yourself & your machine & focus fully on the task in hand....your brakes are fine! just don't forget silly things like shoulder checks. Just relax & concentrate & let us know of your pass on Thursday....all the best Thumbs Up

It is no problem what ever brakes you have. You will have more than enough time to stop, what he will be looking for is you actively trying to slow the bike down as quickly and safely as possible. That means starting the slow down and stop procedure as soon as he puts his hand up, not falling off and not locking the back wheel up. He will be aware of what bike you are on, what type of brake you have on your bike and will allow for the drums being not as effective as discs.

Agreed.

I passed my mod 1 on my third attempt, like you without an instructor and had to travel around 20 miles to get there. The only reason I passed it on the third try was because it dawned in me I was doing this for myself and it didn't really matter whether I passed or not. This made me a lot calmer and I can honestly say I can't remember any nerves at all (unlike the previous 2 attempts). If you are comfortable with your bike then you will pass no problem.

Good luck!

13 miles, poor baby! Razz

You'll be absolutely fine, any 125 should be capable of the start-and-stop performance required. If not, then it's only £15.50 spent to find out.

Thanks guys, thats the kind of stuff I was hoping for. And yes, very comfortable on my bike. Was just worried taht there wouldn't be enough stopping distance that was all. Fingers crossed anyway.

You should be fine, I had never seen the centre before.

I got one minor for no obs when moving off the first time.

Then the second for being one km per hour too slow on the avoidance.

Not too bad in my opinion Very Happy

Don't worry about it, the test is now stupidly easy since they changed the rules.

I would suggest looking on youtube for instructional videos. They really helped me. (Like this kinda stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYOUWHrqDJg) or this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXAruQCpsKU

I have been riding for almost two years on a cbt so didnt find it that hard really (also doing it on my own bike meant I was very comfortable on it)

Lots of slow control manoeuvres (riding in between cones/figure of 8) and a couple of high speed manoeuvres and emergency stop.

It was about 10 minutes all together. So honestly if youve got 2 hours practice thats alot of time to get the hang of it.

My local centre is only a week according to the booking site.

How much is the Mod1 and which did you book small bike, medium bike or big bike?
