I know it might sound stupid, but I haven't actually seen a Honda MBX 50 on the road. I have one and i feel as if I'm the only one who has one! Its a nice bike. Not very good looking nor fast. Its a bit on the slow side for me. It sounds nice though and many people mistake it for a 125.
I will be upgrading to a 125 next year and I was wondering if the MBX125 is good. Does anyone know much about these? Any info would be much appreiciated. |

thewy do exsist ive seen a few for sale.
i think there imports.
it depends greatly on wht u get i know one mbx50 has a type of cylinder called the G23 or somthing like that anyway thts the one you dont want. it dose about 40mph the later version has a differnt cylinder and will touch 55(thats with the exhust derestricted and i think a new CDI).
there great bikes similar to the MB-5 in the way that they take a 6speed Cr80 gearbox almost as a bolt on or u can fit a 80lump straght in there..
they also aparntly take the H100 lump how ever im not sure if this is true.
have a look on www.50cc.nl for more info |

Before you worry about performance parts it would be a better investment slotting in (providing it's the same frame as the MT) a H100 engine. |

Hi
The MBX50 is quite an old bike now, and there were never vaste numbers of them around as Honda did not sell them for long (they replaced them with the MT5, which I think the MBX50 / MTX50 was meant to replace). Think they stopped selling them in the UK in 1986. Both the MT5 and the MBX50 were renowned for being quite slow and difficult to derestrict (pity as the MBX50 was one of the best looking 50s of the time). The MBX50 has a very different frame from the MT5.
Think the H100 engine should go in quite easily. The MBX80 engine would be difficult as it is liquid cooled and so you would need to mount the radiator, etc. You could try and source an MBX80 front end and gain twin disks .
The MBX125 was a nice enough bike (I had one). The speedo ends at 90mph, and as standard they will do about 70~75mph (restricted). Mine had an Allspeed exhaust and S&B filter and would indicate just past where 90 was on the clocks. Power started at 6500 and ended at 9500. However again they are an old bike now, and any you find is likely to have had 18+ years of learner abuse.
All the best
