I haven't heard of anyone being done in ages, I'm wondering if they aren't being maintained anymore.

I think it was last year when I read in our local paper that the GATSOs weren't being maintained any more. I also vaguely remember that other councils were doing much the same. The cameras on my way to work haven't been active since then; at least not on a regular basis, and so far nobody has died.

Good riddance I say, but I do find it somewhat suspect that they've yet to take them down entirely.

Wouldn't be surprised if this was what they wanted.

Regardless of spending the funding to keep them going, drivers aren't willing to take the risk of speeding again past them.

Same result, no maintenance costs.

No maintenance costs will probably save them more than they would generate revenue.

I'd happily see more gatsos if it meant an end to sneaky bastards lying in wait in random places.

Cool, i was flashed a few months ago and just thought I was lucky not getting done for anything. Maybe this is why nothing came of it.

It depends where you are, some of the councils and safety partnerships have withdrawn funding for them, others are still funding them.

I'm aware that Lincolnshire, for example, have just ploughed some money into making theirs serviceable again after a lot were burnt.

I see them flashing regularly in the tunnels on the A13 heading into London - most of the area is covered by average speed cameras so I don't know if the GATSOs are still maintained, but I err on the side of caution when going past them!

One near me has been burnt out for probably 6 months now. It's been burnt out before but got fixed quicker than this. Confused

The Limehouse Link ones are all live, I've seen a few people in the last month posting on pepipoo who have had three tickets sent for the same short stretch of road.

And that to me is why people hate them so much. That isn't a deterrant, that is just plain vindictive. Evil or Very Mad
