(sorry for the threads created and the weird photos don't know how to make them smaller someone tells me I will edit this however)

Just wondering if anyone has made any rash purchases this side of Christmas be it anything to do with bikes spur of the moment type purchase Question

My latest purchase is this below decided check out my local shop (hadn't been in before) and ended up walking out (-£99) with this helmet, paid over the normal price but it has dual visor and pin lock as you can tell it is also flip faced.

To be honest only got one helmet at the moment so could of done with a second encase.

Yes I got home from the pub drunk and went on Ebay.

Next morning I am working away on the PC when an Ebay message informs me I have won something, I couldn't remember what.

Opens up the email to find I'd bid on a won a Honda Hornet.

Had to explain to the wife why I now had 4 bikes.

A CBR400 NC23 - I liked the colour!

https://img6.imageshack.us/img6/8913/1000140u.jpg

Bought for my daughter.

'Only needs a little work for the MOT' Embarassed my arse did it. £700 for the bike, another £500 to get it up to MOT standard. Sometimes I can be very gullible.

It's a nice little bike but I'll never get anywhere near my money back if I ever sell it.

I hate seeing that line on adverts! Laughing If it really is just a "little" work then surely the seller would have done it.

I like that bike though. If only the insurance companies didn't arse rape me for being 17 and liking sports bikes...

As to the OP, yeah; I went in to Halfords to try and find a bulb for my bike (couldn't find what I wanted) but as I had spent ages in there I got paranoid that they would think I was stealing stuff if I just walked out. So I bought a Oxford 28-piece underseat toolkit. Not a bad buy actually, it's been fairly useful. All I had to do was drill a hole in the screwdriver so that I could thread an Allen key through for extra leverage if I needed it.

Hmmm.... not this year fortunately.

Although I did buy a ford galaxy from ebay a couple of months ago.

Was being sold as spares or repair non runner blah blah blah.

Got there and it was this old geezer that has owned it since new... full service history etc and the car had only done 58,000.

I got it trailered back to my house.... he had told me a well known recovery company had told him it was either this fault or that fault or something else (after 2 call outs).

After a bit of looking around online I read that a common fault with galaxys was relay 30.... anyway long story short.... he didn't want to shell out £500 for a possible fault that wasn't there so decided to spend about £18,000 for a new car.

I paid £320 + £170 transport costs.... about an hour with a soldering iron and I had a car that ran perfect.... and if I decided to sell it straight on I could double my money at least.

Yeah. I splurged £300 on a tuned cylinder head for the Enfield rather than £185 for a standard one.

It would be a waste to fit standard rockers on a tuned head so I had to get the fettled alloy rockers, would have been rude not to.

I swithered over getting the alloy pushrods but decided my current ones are straight.

The forged, high compression piston and alloy barrel are still poking fun at me every time I pick up the catalogue but if I fit those, I'd really need to upgrade the crank. If I did that I'd need a bigger carb. and that would be a waste without high lift cams and a close ratio gearbox. Then it would go too fast and need a disc brake conversion...

You can see how this can get out of hand but I'm totally in control. I stopped it at the pushrods. Buying the pushrods would have lead to spending another £2.5k+ on tuning parts.

I went to go buy a new pair of gloves and ended up with a £349.99 exhaust.

Fail.

Got up one sat morning before the wife, bout 8ish, made a brew, and switched on gumtree to look for an "overalls only" washing machine as wife is sick of suspect marks on bed linen.

Half hour later i was loading yet another pit bike on the van. got back just in time to see her get up, so made her a cuppa and told her the good news Dance!

I bought a guitalele on Saturday as an impulse purchase present for my daughter (she's 7 this week).

It got delivered to work and it took all of my will power not to spend lunch and teabreak playing it.

NB its a classical style acoustic the size of a ukulele and cute as fook.

Not recently but when I was still on the hell plates I rode round to the boyfriends how and had a winge about how shit my bike was and it wouldn't start. We went to the nearby Yam dealership and I bought a nearly-brand-new bike. Expensive impulse purchase but it was way better than my first bike!

Im going to the bike show in a couple of weeks so no doubt I will come back with a rucksack full of stuff I don't really need

Went on Gumtree whilst I was eating breakfast, saw some boots close by. Half hour later they are in my bag as I ride home. Didn't need them, just wanted them. And at £30 for Arlen Ness boots I wasn't not going to get them!

I do often pop on gumtree to "try my luck"

I bought some shoe stretchers while quite drunk on Amazon for my girlfriends new boots. I woke up and vaguely remember doing something with my bank card. I ask and was informed I had bought some shoe stretchers. I looked at the advert and realised straight away that they wouldn't fit.

Emailed the seller only to be told they'd been put into the post by 10am on Saturday morning Rolling Eyes I'd ordered them at 2am Friday night/Saturday morning.

So I sent them back only for them to claim they got lost in the post (was last year when the postal service seemed to literally freeze up) at which point I just gave up. I'd already argued for them to give me a full refund and had to link them to amazon's return policy. Even then they said it must of changed recently for Christmas period.

Thumbs Down

Mmmm I have done a few, most turned out to be pretty good:

Rossi Rep expensive lid, went off the paintjob as soon a s i got it home Rolling Eyes It was the half price tag that sold me, I love a bargain. When I had my 'lowside the GSXR750, slide halfway to Richmond and smash my ankle to bits' episode it saved my bonce no doubt Very Happy

TZR250. I was being nagged into racing by some mates, got b*lloxed in the pub Friday night and bought a load of cr*p masquerading as a racebike on ebay. 4 years later and mucho cash it's finally what it should have been in the first place!

DRz400SM Went into Premiers for a headlight bulb and to see what commuter fodder they had cheap, came out with a DZR brand spanking. Cracking Cool
