Here's some funny reviews I found on ukbike.com regarding sports 50's. Below are some of the ones that made me laugh, hope you enjoy. Watch out 125s cause these will beat you in reverse.

Aprilia RS50

I have had my rs50 4 9 months now and its been very good. I have had 1 problem though, that was the ignition switch would not turn off when started and bumped started with no key. When it was restriced is was so so slow like 25 mph on a straight but when I got the restrictor taken out of the exchuast it went 60 on a straight and 68 down big hills. I recently purchased a full Arrow racing exchaust and that has made a big difference - acceleration is much much better and easily hits 65 on a straight and goes 72mph down big hills. It kicks the s**t out of nrgs and all u Yamaha TZR50 owners face it your bikes r so so slow mine kicks its arse, ugly pieces of crap and u r jelous of RS50 owners cause they made the right choice decision and you bought a bike thats looks like a toy and goes 50mph de-restriced ahhahahahahah wot a s**t bike 4 a stupid price

My RS is the fastest 50 around BOURNEMOUTH no other 50 gets close to it in a race, 73MPH top wack. It also gives all the 125 a run for there money. The APRILIA RS50 is the best looking and souding 50 around by far. But I've improved the speed and sound of mine by adding a full arrow racing exhaust system, racing spark plug, racing air filter. But thats not all I've also got custom graphics, 1 off rear lights and number plate and a neon light which looks the dogs boll***S

Motorhispania RX50

This bike is the best 50 around. When I brought it for £700 second hand it only was doin about 27mph, but I then derestricted it (which was easy, as it was just literally the sprocket made bigger and a washer in the exhaust) it then became to about 67mph which is a nice speed and beats most 125`s which gives them a real shock. Everyone says my bike loks stunning and every1 I no wants 1

And then someone talks a bit of sense

Yamaha TZR50
Ok, I'm not gunna lie like most RS50 owners who chat mostly absolute complete bol**ks about their superchipped, 90 big bore kits, NOs injection, induction kits etc - I just like to say 'dont forget that you are all riding f***ing 50cc's not an r1' -dedicated to sean, The TZR50 is without doubt a very good looking bike, and also anything that goes under the name of Yamaha is reliable. for a 50cc it runs well, only problems are it has no fuel gauge (does have reserve tank) only does bout 70, FULLY derestricted. but what do you expect from a 50cc (not 190mph from the r1 replica rs50's). 9/10 for looks I'd say, only caus it looks like its big brother the R1!!!, oh and by the way, no disrepect to any RS50 owners that AREN'T obssesed with their bike and think that its faster than a CBR. There are some people who just have there bike derestricted and just simply RIDe the thing (final summary TZR's are PHAT for wat they are) Matt

I like how they squabble over who's bike looks better/faster (similar to the infamous RS/NSR/Mito argument). The 125 beating claims are pure class though.

50 racers are funny as hell i had one chuffed to bits bragging to his mates that he beat an RGV250. he was racing me, i was riding normally sticking to the 30 limit thinking he was a tit.
The one guy probably does honestly think he can give RS125's a runf or their money. in reality he probably thrashed the nuts out of his bike to keep up with some guy on an rs125 who didnt even know he was there, let alone try to race him.

if ever a ped boi says they can do 70, just ride off at 70 and watch them disappear into a dot in your mirrors somewhere around 60 Wink

LoL they don't half talk a load of crap the landspeed record for a 50cc is 84.36 mph and this is a fully race tuned, stripped down, wind tunnel fairings driven by proffesionals, the engines on these bikes are probably designed to last for 10 minutes before needing a rebuild, they are precisely tuned by proffesionals, so why can't everyone else out there that owns a 50 just admit we can do about 45 de restricted and keep up with milkfloats, i'll admit that my ped is embarrassingly slow, which is why i don't brag about it.

50cc record is 121.7mph, set in 1956 by Hans Muller, with a reported one way pass of over 130mph. 84.362mph was the nearest anyone has come to that record.

I think i actually saw that bike in a bike museum down south, i cant remember its actual name but it had something like a quote : Could be heard 8 miles away on full throttle"

which sounds to me like a very cool 50cc.

Some of the 50cc GP bikes were VERY fast! 50cc twins and V3's (RP68) with 14 gears and top speeds well in excess of 115mph. these are however dedicated speed machines with race fairings alloy everything, and made by a huge factory racing team. You cant make a 50 ped go as fast as one, just like you cant make a 125 ped that goes as fast as a 125GP bike.

Ped's are heavy, slow and in no way built for top speed. fannying about with one will make it go faster, but even then you are at the mercy of nature, a slight headwind and your stuck at 50mph, downhill with your chin on the bars and a 90mph tail wind you clearly you will go faster Wink

These are the metrakit minigp bikes. powered by a tuned 50cc derbi engine they make about 15bhp and can be tuned for more. Cool

should leave most peds for dead. Laughing

Ahh yeah, the RS/Mito/NSR argument.

I'm glad that when I was 17 I got a Varadero 125 instead. and that could still keep up with a restricted RS125, plus when I got there, I didnt need a chiropractor or a full litre of silkolene's finest!

RS50s can do about 55 derestricted, RS125s about 90ish and RS250s an indicated 145mph.

^^ I have that on good authority! Very Happy

Depends on the model of RS125, as there are loads of differences. Early ones managed 99mph in the original road tests (and I have had my one of that model round to an indicated 115mph on level ground).

The RS250 does just over 130mph in reality, so a 10% optimistic speedo would nicely show 145.

All the best

I was going to say a ton is about realistic for the 125. Performance Bikes did a test quite a while back. I'm perfectly happy with a ton on mine. Obviously, I suppose it varies bike to bike.

RS250 should just top 130. Ive heard of RGV riders getting 150 on the speedo, but this is likely 135 downhill with a tail wind and the normal 10% out speedo

I reckon that with a full exhaust system, air filter, and general little bit of tarting up i could get my RS250 up to around a true 140mph.

I believe you are referring to the mini-moto land speed record which was featured recently in MCN
