Just found out this is on, has anyone been before or planning on going?

Is it any good?

I went to the dirt bike show up north with my dad years ago when i was a kid and loved it, imagine this to be similar but thought i'd get opinions first Thumbs Up

It's OK. I'll be going this year, on the Friday - there's a few of us off here that are going to it. If they jack the price up again, I won't bother next year, though.

I went last year and the year before, they are pretty good but get massively busy around 11 ish on the weekends. Im heading up for Saturday with some mates. If you go from the Ace Cafe, Ross Noble and Danny John Jules are leading a rideout to the Excel which is open to all if you chuck a fiver in the pot.

Im not all that happy about them hiking up the price by a fiver and including entry to the Revolution show.

More annoying that they've decided to not let you opt out of watching the Revo show. It's just one straight ticket fee now - when actually all I want is the stands.

Already a thread on this somewhere on here as well I think - seems most people are going on the Friday.

I went to the same one at the NEC year before last, was superb!
Loads of discouted kit on sale and loads of other bikey stuff.
I was 16 at the time and got to ride a motorbike for the first time at the Get on Stand!
If you've got a license then you can take bike for test rides too!

I'm due to go up sunday.

Does anyone know the parking situation? If it's a nightmare I will just get a train.

bike parking is fine. Not sure on car parking. You'll have no bother on the bike

Parking's fine (went up to Grand Designs last year) undercover parking for cars but is expensive (IMHO). Bikes are free though.

Taken from the MCN show website:
Up to 2 hours £5.00
Up to 6 hours £10.00
Up to 15 hours £15.00
Up to 24 hours £20.00

Kudos for admitting about grand designs dave : Laughing

I'm gonna try and get in there early ish and avoid the crowds. Taking the bike will hopefully limit the amount I spend. However... It will be a pain in the ass lugging everything about.. hmm Rolling Eyes

£20 quid for a day out is not bad add another tenner to that for food and drink still ok. You can do that money down the pub in no time, dont have to go spending hundreds of pounds on new gear up there.

I generally go for a mooch around than with any specific purpose. The thing that irritates me is the same as any venue like this - the fact it's £4.50 a pint of strongbow in a plastic beaker Rolling Eyes However, I do have more money than sense, and don't mind strolling around tipping pints down me, rubbing my crotch on fresh metal and trying to pinch the arse of the show girls. (some of this I don't actually do, but I'm trying to sound blokish and grr)

I've been a couple of times, but not recently. First year I went it was at Ally Pally, then I went to the first year at Excel. I was new to biking at the time and pretty much wowed by it all but I enjoyed it. Not something you need to do every year IMO though.

The first time that MCN moved the show from Ally Pally to Excel it was rubbish.Half the people who said that they would have a stand did not.It has got better though. The car parking used to be £8 per person.

In the past I used to go up on the Friday with my brother. But this year I am going up on Saturday together with some friends.

Taking the car will not be a problem as I know where I can park for free with only a 5 minute walk to the show - the benefit of knowing the area as I used to work locally to Docklands.

Well, having been today I'm not going again next year. The place was near empty, the Revolution show was average at best and I begrudge being forced to pay for it, the traders were all those that dealt in cheaper gear and none of the higher end stuff, and there must have been half as many stalls as there were last year. Disappointing.
