Motoring charges came in the post. There is a small list all with the same date which is wrong. 6 weeks earlier than the offences actually occured.

The statement given by the copper has the correct date on though.

Where do I stand? Do I plead guilty and get what I deserve or do I plead not guilty because the date shown is wrong and there was nothing wrong with my bike then?

It's a silly error on their part, but unfortunately it won't alter any outcomes. All they will do is amend the charge sheet. If the cop's evidence has the correct date then an admin error is unlikely to overturn the case, unfortunately.

Its an error that they can remedy under the slip rule, my advice would be to plead guilty but request a Newton hearing. That allows the facts to be corrected in court (takes away the potential of later being trialled on the correct date as well as the wrong one)

This should ensure the maj still gives allowance for an early plea but corrects the facts of the case.

Which motoring charge? Give a little to get a little.

Were you stopped at the time and told that you might be prosecuted? Were you served with a NIP within 14 days of the alleged offence?

Why not just scan / snap all the documents and post them here? It can't possibly harm you, and we might spot something that could help.

Everything else on the list is legit.

After researching the slip rule, it appears they can indeed alter any mistakes like this easily.

Guilty plea + pwease mister I won't do it again letter in the post tomorrow.
