Neon/LED lights?

Just to get this straight before I get into it, the only reason I would get neon/LED's on my bike would be to make myself more noticeable.
I am 17 with a 125, yes, but I'm not your typical (make my bike/car look like a christmas tree 'cause it's cool.) 17 year old chav.

But, from just looking online about having lights on your bike, the information seems misty in lots of people saying different things on what you can have, what colour and so forth.
Just wondering anyones thoughts and opinions on this and what the law might actually be?

Green each side at the front looks ok. Add some extra red ones at the back. Don't use amber, even though it's the "approved" colour for a marker light people might think you are indicating as they don't expect orange marker lights on a motorbike, only on trucks! Also, consider adding reflective silver stickers to your helmet.

I'm guessing it's amber for inside the bike as well then? Say if you were going to put one on the underside of the tank to shine outwards.
And what about under the belly of the bike?

I had Blue LEDs as side lights.....
Myself think in the day time there alright....
Night time, its asking for trouble - Many times Id leave the Mrs house at midnight with them lights showing is asking for a pulling.
Amber is asking for trouble IMO (A friend had them) I couldnt tell if it was his lights or if he was indicating
If you want to be seen, Hi Vis all the way - Lights wont really make a difference.

I kitted my dad's virago out in hidden purple LED strips. looks amazing at night. Only visible from side.

If he gets stopped I've told him to say "Well you SAW me didn't you?"

i ride down a lot of unlit backroads so i felt i needed more light at the rear of my bike simply because i felt the rear light was too small
i got the back of my bike lit up a lot more with some cheap waterproof 12V leds off ebay
never had any issues with police

LED lights on motorcycle/bikes have to conform to certain laws. As said in a previous thread, blue, green are a no, red must only show rearwards and white forwards. Amber side lights are allowed but may distract from your indicators.

Reflective strips however are perfectly legal. You can get it in many colours and it's not unheard of to make some nice designs using it. You can get pin-stripe, wheel rim tape or even some sheets of it to cut out any design you like (reflective Aprilia lion?).

Get some good 3M stuff. eBay sell the rolls (LINK). The sheets you can google.

I think some people are jealous because only teenagers can get away with neons; if you're over 30 then you can't have neons on your bike or ride a skateboard.

Fact is, neons DO make a bike a lot more visible.

Iv yet to see details of a court case proving the statements right.

Its a grey area, as the links to the rules as best as can be adapted show.

As long as the source of the neon is not visible to a motorist its not a crime, unless theres a case im unaware of where a rider/driver/trucker has been officially done for it?

The stock headlamp bulbs on my Varadero 125 were really poor, so I first tried changing them for 'Super-Bright' ones, but they weren't much better...
