Well, it’s been just over a month since I’ve had my bike and woke up to the glorious sight of it on its side this morning. The little shits didn’t even have a go at the chain/lock just pushed it over.

Anyway, I haven’t stated it yet, there was quite a lot of oil on the floor and a strong smell of petrol. Couldn’t see anything dripping when I stood it up but don’t want to start it and end up in a ball of fire.

There is minor damages here and there, rear brake pedal is well out of whack.

Should I start it? Report criminal damage to the police? Insurance is TPFT, ddo I need to report this to them?

most of this big patch is water, you can see where the oil is (possibly mixed with petrol) in the big patch and the small patch behind is also oil

Fit one of those cyclone alarms. Mine is horrifically oversensitive, but it will scream blue bloody murder if anyone touches the bike, so you've at least got a chance of catching the sods in the act.

Not sure that I can condone the idea of twatting the leader of the group, though; the chances of repercussions are high, because mummy's little angel was totally innocent throughout all of this, see?

Might also be worth putting it behind the wall in front of your house; it's another obstacle to them sodding about with it.

Unfortunately I think my only option is to keep it on the street. I don’t have a garage (none locally to rent), live on the first floor of a maisonette. Even if I could get it up the 4 steps from street level each night I would have nothing to attach it too.

I think someone has just bought the flat below us so ill have to see if I can have a word, but there is no solid ground to fit a ground anchor, only loose paving.

I'd leave it a few hours, check the levels and then start it. It'll be fine once any petrol has evaporated.

I would also report it to plod, they'll do absolutely sod all but it'll be another unsolved crime to add to their stats and if they get enough people report these scum pushing bikes over cos dem is ard, init then plod MIGHT get off their arses and look into it

But on the other hand don't insurers have access to the police database for this sort of thing so a few years down the line OP has a claim on his TPFT/comprehensive policy and the cnuts will refuse to pay out because he "didn't declare the incident a couple of years ago" (IIRC you need to declare anything of this nature even if you didn't claim and thus is the game rigged).

Maybe you could refuse to give your registration and full address but i don't know how the fuzz would take that - after they'll track you down and kick the door in simply because you're a normal guy who hasn't done anything wrong.

The cover should have saved one or two scuffs anyway.
Being on it's side is unlikely in itself to do any harm apart from the slight fluid leaks.

Check for damage in the following areas. Indicators, foot pegs, levers, mirrors and check the handlebar/clip on is not bent.

Phone the police only if you want to be told that they do not have the resources to do anything about it. I have had my bike pushed over and damaged by kids and nothing was done. It gets even more disheartening when you take into account that when mine was done there were camera's looking at the bike and a time scale within 4 hours was given.

See!!!!

As suggested above, fit an ear peircingly loud alarm and hope to catch the scroats.

yup, bastards damaged them all. there is a bloody big dent in the tarmac where the handlebars landed. i think there is a lot less travel in the brake pedal, difficult to see from the pics but bent well away from it should be

How do you know someone pushed it over?

Looks like you're parked at the end of a bay. Someone could easily have nudged it over trying to get in/out of a space. Happens all the time.

hmmm, possibly. it had crossed my mind. in the month or so i have been parking there, there has only ever been one other car in that bay (there is space for around 4 cars in that particular bay) which belongs to the house right next to the bay.

also the street is on a hill which slopes downwards on the side of the stand, it would take some nudging and there arent any marks on that side of the bike. the people are out at the moment, i was going to speak to them and see if they saw anything and guage their reaction.

they do know its my bike as they have seen me parking it there and i only live opposeite them, they must have seen it when they left this morning, but this being London its no surprise that no one in the street knocked on the door to tell me it had happened.

Do you have a stoned yard like the one in the pic? If so, get a bin, fill it with concrete, stick an anchor in it, park the bike in the garden anchored to the bin.

Evil little bastards. Then again, are you sure it wasn't someone older? There's a tendency to always blame kids but for all you know it could be some 60 year old man across the street who has a chip on his shoulder because you park in the wrong place.

If you report the incident to your insurance company they will reward you by raising the price of your insurance.

no, i live on the opposite side of the street. that side all have driveways, but on our side its all steps up to door level. our side is about 4-6 foot higher than the opposite side.

this is typical of my side of the street

Don't sweat the bike, just check the oil level and have a look at the battery as well to check that it hasn't leaked. If in any doubt, rinse the hell out of the frame.

I assume that if you didn't have an alarmed lock on it, then you'll be ordering one now?

Sorry, I don't think there is a solution. From your previous thread:

Rent out a council garage, there's no way I'd leave a bike on the street, if it doesn't get knicked you can bet local kids will mess about with it. Don't think I'd able to sleep at night and my bike is half the cost of yours Razz

If you were outside That London, I'd say drill some holes through your wall, put it on the pavement and chain it to the wall so that it can't go over. In your case though, I'd either sell the bike or move to somewhere with a garage or a yard. Seriously.
