Hey there lads, im sure its been asked so many times however Im struggling to find bigger bikes for bigger people.

I'm currently standing 5'10 however like most bigger horizontal as well Razz im stocky and was looking at the xl varadero's (im strictly after a 125 by the way) ive been looking for months and wondering if anyone out there can shed some light.

I want a taller more stocky bike to suite me rather than a thin tiny thing hence looking at a varadero though the prices seem off in respect looking at ages say an 03 matches the prices on several levels to 07's and 09's and I cant seem to find a reliable place to buy from!

Is there any other bikes like that? "stocky" in build? or is that the only real contender?

I've also been having a butchers at NSR's however cant work out if there smaller or not.

Yamaha TDR125 is ideal if you can find an un-molested one.

What part of the country are you in?
I'm about 5'10 and my NSR is a fair decent height, but the seat isn't too wide, given that it's quite a thin-bike.

Ah, Can recommend this. Thumbs Up My first bike and it was amazing. 2 stroke though so not at all economical.

It's a physically big bike, people always used to ask me if it was a 600cc. But then I am quite small so it probably dwarfed me.

Here's a pic of my old one:

[Patient sigh] WHY?

125's do two things; provide cheap bus-fare beating transport for the impoverished, OR they are a training tool to get a licence with.

If you are impoverished; then a 'fancy' 125 chosen for its sense of asthetics is a fools ecconomy... you are paying more money to have less bike, that costs more to buy and run, than something bigger, that does same job better.

If its a training tool to get tests on.... then bollox to what it looks like..... get whatever is cheap and does the job, get the bludy licence with it, and if you dont like the way it looks, get RID as soon as for something you DO like the look of!

the 'must be a 125' thing we hear so often is nothing more than a self imposed 'restriction' making life hard for yourself, all for the sake of two hours of your life and £121.50 to do the tests to get a propper licence!

Maybe he's after a 125 to do his tests on? But being a 'biggish' lad, he's just aware of the fact that he'll need something bigger than the normal 125- so that it's comfortable, and he doesn't look like a pratt.

Aiming for brevity.... I precis my normal type response considering all those possibilities...

Regulation Learner commuter is as close as 'one size fits all' as you can get.

Anything that has an L-Plate on it, makes you look a bit of a pratt.

Spending large amounts of money on something that doesn't 'look' like a learner legal, doesn't actually make you look 'less' of a pratt... just like a fashion conciouse one!

I'm 6'2" and no flyweight, I dont have too much trouble on a tiddler, in fact even with a full licence of many years I still enjoy thier virtue and ride one by choice.....

BUT, for 'big-lad' wanting something 'more substancial' to haul him along and/or, for proportional asthetics, a 125 is NOT going to cut it very well..

So why make life harder and spend more money, when he could get a regulation Learner Commuter, that WOULD 'fit', and do the job, briefly, to get tests done, and provide the licence that would allow him ANY number of more substantial bikes, full size Veradaro; TDR250, any number of super-motoards; 500 commuter twins, even full blooded 600's 750's or even litre bikes?

ALL of which would have the balls to haul a heftier pilot than a 125, the 'size' to suit astetics, and no ruddy L-Plate to ruin the effect?

They are not to be confused with piece oh shit Chinese bikes. They are made by a Korean company. They come quite highly rated. Hold there value well and are a BIG bike.

Edited after Slyrobs post - Also its a 4 stroke Thumbs Up

I'm 6' 4" and 100kgs, NSR was fine for me in terms of comfort reliability etc. If fuel consumption is a reason for looking at 125s then be aware that the cost of fuel + quality 2 stroke oil for the NSR125 ends up around the same as fuel per mile for a 600 super sport

Well, a hard seated, weight on the wrists sportsbike like the NSR isn't going to do THAT for you....

I ride a CB125 Super-Dream; for a triddler its one of the 'more' comfy with a propper saddle, a decent reach to the bars, and pegs, its not SO cramped, and it's quite 'pokey' for a 4T tiddler... its 'comfy' for up to around an hour in the saddle.....

I ride a CB750; its taller, wider, longer, heavier; I can ride that for four, five hours at a stretch....

And curiousely, it returns almost as good mpg, if I dont thrash it, unlike the CB, that I HAVE to thrash, just to make 'reasonable' progress, AND curiousely, is actually LESS for me to insure...

All for the sake of having the licence to let me ride it....

If you WANT a posey 125; you want a 'faster' 125, then fine; end of they day, its YOUR money and your choice; but the bottom line is, that all the things you are trying to suggest you NEED a bigger, faster tiddler for, dont wash.... all the 'reasons' are answered by 'pass test - get a big bike'...

So, back to you; do you want our 'help' or do you merely want us to endorse your decision and support the ridiculousness justifications for it?

All I ever see with the CBs are bodges and the fact they seems to have "decent" suspension, but fuck all else Laughing

By all means, stick to your guns and just buy a big 125, Hyosung are not that bad from the 08 models up.
A Honda Varadero, Hyosung GT125/GT125R, Yamaha DT125, Yamaha TDR125 or a Honda NSR would be fine.

Ignore what Mike said about it being weight on wrists... its not as you don't lay down on it, its the same seating position as a CBR125, which is the same position on a CB125TDC... I never rode differently on any of those and they all felt just as comfortable, just 1 looked worse than the others Wink

You did miss out on my £400 Hyosung GT125 which got sold before xmas, would have suited you perfectly! Keep your eyes open and you will get some deals... my dad always finds them! CB250N for £100 running just needs tyres and MOT Laughing Thumbs Up
