Got a nearly 60 miles roundtrip to work, motorway for the most part. Am using 2nd hand textile gear off egay, and getting really cheesed off with getting a wet tummy. From what i can fathom, the rain appears to be travelling up the waterproof trousers, underneath the jacket, and soaking my stomach area (only happens under extended or heavy rain, but that's a regular occurance in Wales). Can't zip the trousers and jacket together because i have to use different brand jacket and trousers - because i can't get a single 2-piece of the same brand to fit me both top and bottom half.

Have tried waterproof overtrousers and whilst they make it take longer for me to get wet (they sit higher up than the textile trousers do), it doesn't stop the problem.

One piece oversuit is not an option (despite working well) as i find it too hard to get on and off.

Any ideas?

A one-piece is the only thing that will work against heavy rain. What's making it hard to get on and off? Is it the right size?

A good leatherworker/seamstress i know could sew you a heavy duty zip to join up the two parts properly.

Don't know if that would waterproof crappy textiles but might help, would also stop builders ass/cold back etc...

She is based in Grays, Essex which is annoyingly far from anything but if you get in contact i know she is happy to post/receive items for just this Thumbs Up

I take it you;ve got a 'sport' textile jacket? Just suck it up and get a long touring jacket. Or, my old HG had a kind of crotch strap thing that held it down.

It's normally caused by the rain travelling up the inside of the coat. If you have a long coat with a bungie cord bottom fold the coat under and back on it itself, this normally does the trick.

You can get waterproof trousers that are like fishing waders but lighter, held up with braces. I went to the NW200 a few years aho with a pair - it rained solidly for 4 days and the only moisture on my stomach all trip was spilt Guiness... I got them from a workwear shop. Best waterproofs I've ever owned...
