Has anyone ever been stopped with a 33bhp restricted licence and the authorities verified the power output, or has the certificate been automatically accepted?

Some insurance companies request the certificate when you sign a policy with them, others don't. If they don't, they you're likely okay until you have an accident, in which case they're going to want to check that you're restricted. Assuming you're talking about restricting it, and not just pretending you are, you don't need the certificate, but it's best to make sure that your bike is Under 33bhp with a Dyno test, that way should the police pull you, you're safe.

Essentially it all boils down to them having to prove you're the power limit.

I think you know very well that there's no such thing. There's the worthless £200 bits of paper from FI, or worthless dyno printouts, or worthless receipts for fitting a restrictor, or worthless bits of paper that any chump can print off, all of which prove exactly as much about the bike (nothing) as any of the others.

OK, I bit, now what's the nub of your gist?

Pulled by the police for having no insurance as their database had not yet updated. They noticed i was on a restricted licence and were fine with me riding an rgv250 as "If you can ride a 125 on L plates, then you can ride a 250 with a full licence". That's far more knowledge than most coppers seem to have Laughing
