RIP

Sounds like he might of been having a 'spirited' ride if it was a lamp post.

Well at least he died doing something he loved.

RIP

Someone knew him on the essex bikers forum.

I was actually on the same road only an hour earlier on my own bike, was shocked to hear about it. The roads were dry as far as I remember, not sure exactly what happened tho.

RIP indeed.

Wonder what did actually cause him to hit a lamppost, providing it wasn't "spirited"....

Poor chap, quite a sweet story really, bit of a fairytale. Shame about the anti-climax

What is the morbid fascination with posting random bike road deaths of total strangers on BCF? Yes, it sucks that someone has died but you don't know him so why post it?

I'm sure car forums don't have the same problem every time a corsa full of chavs ends up in a lake.

In b4:

stay safe out there guys, keep it shiny side up, rubber side down and something to do with brotherhood etc etc

For the record, if you hear about some Dayglo Derek riding comically slowly into a ditch South of Glasgow, I expect - nay, I demand - responses along the lines of "What a prick", "Serves the cnut right" and "Better him than me".

And while you're having your laugh, I'll be getting re-incarnated as this kitten.

A lad hit a lampost here too, was about a year back on a yellow k4/k5 gsxr 600. Lampost was fucking mullered - I thought a car had hit it!

Luck wasn't on his side that day. R.I.P

Did wonder, wouldn't call it a dangerous road - presuming it's the open end rather than the bit in the estate, it's plenty wide, plenty straight, good vis, no side turnings and with 40mph limit. Not exactly accident black spot Sad

RIP to the fella.

Careful now, last time I posted about how I found this strange, morbid fascination with accidents a little unusual, I racked up masses of neg ratings from the likes of Rogerborg etc.
(I even attracted a strange troll by the username of mattress who followed me around for while negging pretty much anything I posted, I guess it really upset him)

Anyway, in before Cheeseybeaner posts some sickly prose about fallen brethren riding free in heaven (or similar).

Thumbs Up

I know that road too - it's pretty straight, I guess he might've been avoiding an animal.

This is a bike chat forum - we're chatting about a bike crash - sounds fairly 'on topic' to me. I'm not saying we should all get sentimental about it, but it doesn't mean we can't take an interest.

Are you sure? I seem to agree with you now. Maybe I was drunk then, or maybe I am now? Confused

Yup.
You were even silly enough to post along the lines of 'if you disagree you shouldn't read a thread or post in it', which kind of defeats the purpose of interwebs forums somewhat.

I can be a bit hard hearted sometimes, after all just another death on the roads, and he was probably riding like a dick. But I read the article and all the tear jerking stuff was getting me all sympathetic to the guy until it mentioned that this guy who died on a triumph, dreamed of having a Harley Davidson.

This is just wrong to me. HD make crap motorbikes for idiots who know nothing about bikes, and this chap had a perfectly good triumph and wanted a HD. God was clearly as appalled as me, and arranged this little accident.

No, no he didn't. He was doing something he probably loved beforehand, but the last second or so I think he'd prefer to do without.

Sorry couldn't resist. And I too expect a nice pun if a black clad wannabeninja who can't hear fuckall on a b-king smashes through the river mersey, explodes and evaporates all the pongy water.

But seriously, ouch a lamp post.

Well, I am at the mercy of whimsy. I expect it was a lot more incisive and crushing than that. Razz

I live right near this road, he might have got his blood up if he came down Staneway as I heard he was coming down the link, nice road Staneway nothing turning into it except may be a horse.

Still accidents can happen anywhere, my mate hit a lampost in Wickford, just lost control, lucky he didn't die but was pretty messed up.

This guy is unfortunately another statistic that will probably get the local old bill on bikers backs for a while. Sad

It's at times like this I feel we should all be united in our respect
for some good comedy punctuation:

Quote:
I saw you,
hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line.

But, you didn't see me,
put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday.

I saw you,
pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk.

But, you didn't see me,
playing Santa at the local mall.

I saw you,
change your mind about going into the restaurant.

But, you didn't see me,
attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief.

I saw you,
roll up your window and shake your head when I drove by.

But, you didn't see me,
driving behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window.

I saw you,
frown at me when I smiled at your children.

But, you didn't see me,
when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless.

I saw you,
stare at my long hair.

But, you didn't see me,
and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love.

I saw you,
roll your eyes at our leather coats and gloves.

But, you didn't see me,
and my brothers donate our old coats and gloves to those that had none.

I saw you,
look in fright at my tattoos.

But, you didn't see me,
cry as my children where born and have their name written over and in my heart.

I saw you,
change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere.

But, you didn't see me,
going home to be with my family.

I saw you,
complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be.

But, you didn't see me,
when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane.

I saw you,
yelling at your kids in the car.

But, you didn't see me,
pat my child's hands, knowing he was safe behind me.

I saw you,
reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road.

But, you didn't see me,
squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn.

I saw you,
race down the road in the rain.

But, you didn't see me,
get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date.

I saw you,
run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time.

But, you didn't see me,
trying to turn right.

I saw you,
cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in.

But, you didn't see me,
leave the road.

I saw you,
waiting impatiently for my friends to pass.

But, you didn't see me.
I wasn't there.

I saw you,
go home to your family.

But, you didn't see me.
Because, I died that day you cut me off.

I was just a biker,.....

A person with friends and a family.

BUT, YOU DIDN'T SEE ME

For those of you that are interested, and just to clear Scott's name for those who think he may have been having a "spirited ride" it would appear, according to a witness, Scott was overtaking a car along this stretch of road, quite sensibly may I add but suddenly lost contol of he's bike and that the handles bars were violently moving from left to right.
I think this can only point to one thing. A tankslapper.
The witness also said that Scott was not hammering it down the road either, but was doing a fairly sensible speed performing a normal overtake for a motorcyclist.

I knew Scott, and worked with him, and he was a great bloke.
He was literally on the verge of moving to America to be with he's fionce. They planned to marry and settle down there.
You could say this was a fairytale story that came to a very tragic end 2 weeks ago.
Here's a small collection of pics put together by Scotts fionce just after he's unfortunate accident..

Scott, RIP..
