Hey folks, does an NSR 125r have a rear brake light switch ? Mine doesn't, and I've got an MOT coming up. I know my old bike didn't have to light when I pressed the brake pedal, but I've got a sneaking suspicion that things may have changed...

cheers Thumbs Up

Yes you need it to light up when you press the rear brake to pass the MOT, the switch is located just above the brake pedal obviously.

Back brake switches are usually cheap and universal, don't be fooled into paying extra for one with the word 'Honda' written on it. You will need a small spring with a hook on each end to attach it to the lever too.

I heard you only need at least one brake switch working to pass the MOT, my old bike didn't have a brake switch for the front brake and that passed fine.

You only need one brake light to be working for the MOT.

So how do you explain this then:

Quote:
Operation
Stop lamps may operate in conjunction with either the front or the rear brake, or both. On machines first used on or after 1 April 1986, the stop lamps must operate by the application of each system.

That is lifted directly from the MOT test manual, I have failed a bike MOT before for having no front brake switch.
