 |

So, a friend is from Tomaszów Mazowiecki, in Poland.
I've looked, from my home its about 1000 miles.
Now, how far realistically is achievable in a day? Also is it best to pre book hotels and shit or just role up sorta thing?
Currently this is my plan:
Day 1:
Home to dover, ferry to calais. Then calais to antwerp, stay the night there. This is 225 miles riding. About 6 hours total travelling with the ferry etc.
Day 2:
Antwerp to berlin. Total is about 450 miles. Riding time of around 7 hours.
Day 3: From berlin to Tomaszów Mazowiecki. Total of about 330 miles. Riding time of 6 and a half hours.
Is this a bit optimistic?
Some advice would be much appreciated.

I'd use booking.com or similiar for hotels, no deposits taken and free cancellation. As for the driving,if you feel tired, stop.
Hope this is not a trip you're taking shortly it's -20 in some parts there brrrrr
Don't forget the pics |

Pfft, I'd be telling him to meet you in North France and ride on to Spain
Realistically from my house to France then about 4 hours riding would make me tired and head to bed... 4 hours riding from ferry I could possibly be a fair dent into france. |

A fazer in GOOD condition will do that quite happily. Mke sure tyres and C+S are in good nick.
Travelling through Belgium is a slow process, too many HGV's on twin lane 'motorways' all doing 55 mph. Soon as you get into Germany you are flying.
Weather will play a big part in your mileage. Wet or cold, it will slow you right down.
We generally dont book hotels, we have a goal, but if we dont reach it then no problem, we stop when we have had enough.
Germany still seems to offer good value for your Euro, France is V expensive these days.
Fit some good, HARD, luggage, Givi, Kappa, as soft stuff is awkward to load and hold. Soft luggage is also EASY TO STEAL!!! You are heading into bandit country so keep a close eye on your bike when stopping for a break.
Dont forget your medical card and travel insurance, take a wad of cash AND at least two credit cards, no fun losing or forgetting to pick one up after a fill-up. (All these have happened to me or my brother).
Have fun, dont try to be a mileage hero and wear yourself out. ____________________ The CBR900RR has been sold. Aprilia Falco worms its way into my heart.

It's a lady I'm going to see .
Okay, good advice jj cheers. I won't be doing on the Fazer though I don't think, probably my Daytona, Fazer is my second option as I get really bad cramp when riding it.
I do have a top box, so I'll look at getting a mount for the daytona and see how much it is.
I think its a bit unrealistic having a weeks worth of clothes as well as locks and shit in a rucksack on a sports bike, considering after 120 miles with an overnight bag my back was killing .
I'll check out that website too.
What should I expect to pay for a night ? what would you say is 'reasonable'? ____________________ CBT Passed: 30/08/2009, Theory Passed: 31/08/2010, Mod 1 Passed: 6/9/2010, Mod 2 Passed: 13/09/2010. Restriction ended 13/09/2012.

The Polaks I work with drive home in one stint. Bear in mind for the next two months Poland will not be ideal for riding in. I gather there are rules regarding snow tyres and other things.
Prices of petrol in France and Germany aren't substantially cheaper than here, you'll be looking at £120ish in fuel both ways.
Why not just fly? Get a plane straight to Warsaw and then bus/train to Mazowiecki should be much cheaper at this time of year, and lots more luggage. Plus when you arrive you won't be too tired to fuck immediately. ____________________ Previous: GSF600, FZR600 x2, ZXR750, XT600 Tenere, CB125, CZ125, ETZ 250, ER5, CCM R30, DRZ400, RF600x4, RF900x2, GS500, VTR1000F, 640 SMC, CB250 NIGHTHAWK, GT550x3, GPX750 TE610, CB500, X11x2, SV650, ZING 125, TL1000R,CB250 Superdream, CBR1100XX |

You woman, the Daytona is comfy.
As its a lady, I think we need pics to determine the actual time required to get there.
Ventura do a nice rack for the daytona, did you see my Daytona with luggage? loaded 2 tents, 2 towels, 3 peoples 3 days worth of clothes, a coat, a pillow, 2 sleeping bags and food, a gps, shampoo and conditioner along with a 2 litre bottle of emergency petrol as the Daytona is far from efficient with fuel.
That was on the rear and with a tank bag attached to the petrol cap (good bit of kit actually)
I'd be packing a reg/rec and euro cover also |

The trip won't be until the summer. I wanted to get an idea of cost etc before making any commitments.
Of course flying is cheaper, its like £50 a return, but I've always wanted to ride through Europe, so I thought this would be a good oppertinity to persue that.
Paddy, I assume you sold the rack with the bike?
I'll be carrying a reg rec dw .
hmmm to show the pics I've got of the lady I'd have to put a not work safe tag on this thread which i'd rather not do . ____________________ CBT Passed: 30/08/2009, Theory Passed: 31/08/2010, Mod 1 Passed: 6/9/2010, Mod 2 Passed: 13/09/2010. Restriction ended 13/09/2012.
