Bluetooth Headphones under helmet?

Hi guys, I've been looking for some wireless headphones so I can listen to some tunes whilst on my commute to and from college, and for when I have un little ride outs every now and then.

A lad at college came in the other day with some very odd looking wireless headphones, called Jabra Halo's.. They're headphones, not earphones, but the look of them made me question what I could use on my bike..

anyway, just wondering if anyone has any recommendations of bluetooth headphones or earphones for use on a bike, preferably for a decent enough price, and some that won't break on me.

any suggestions are much appreciated, cheers!

PS: please don't post anything like "Isn't the sound of the engine entertaining enough" or "why listen to music when it'll only distract you". I'm not here for a debate or to hear suggestions that are irrelevant .

Why use bluetooth ones?

I use my normal ear 'buds' from my iPhone (not Apple ones, they are horribly uncomfortable - I used Sennheiser CX series) in my inside pocket up into my helmet under my neck warmer.

The Sennheiser are 'noise reducing' in that they seal inside your ear, which acts as an ear plug from helmet/road noise as well.

Usually have a earphone in one ear and a ear plug in the other

To be honest I've been looking for something similar ever since I started using a helmet. Bluetooth piece is easy to fit to a helmet, quite a few companies to products specially designed as hands free for helmets (look up bluetooth helmets on eBay). But I don't think you can listen to music on them. Standard earpieces would do just the trick for music alone.

For me the best so far (and the easiest) is just use a standard wired hands free that came with my iPhone. Bit fiddly to use with gloves on, but I soon got used to it.

If you're able to get headphones under your helmet, it's not fitting properly I would imagine. I'd jus stick with earphones, get some good quality ones and maybe a booster to pump up the volume and there you go.

Just look for some in-ear earphones, then stick a mp3 player/phone in your jacket pocket, and job's a good'un.

My in-ear headphones have memory foam rather than rubber, which makes them very comfy for long periods of time (I've done about 6-7 hours with no issues).

Just get some slim in-ear headphones.

One thing to look out for is whether your MP3 player has an EU-nanny-state volume limiter. If so, you might struggle to crank it up loud enough for the music to be properly audible at 60+mph, unless you have a very quiet lid.

My intention was to fit the little unit somewhere around the chinbar, but it turned out that there wasn’t a good place to fix it that was out of the wind. I still use it if I mount my phone for sat nav, but just put the receiver in a pocket or clip it to my jacket.

you have two choices buy a pair of helmet speakers and set the sound prior to riding with no higher volume or lower volume,or get a helmet that will take bluetooth I bought shark vision R and its great with the bt speakers inside x-lite do the 702 also or buy a bluetooth headset to go with any helmet set you back around £100-150.btw the shark bt will last you around a month before recharging.

They last, there loud - and if someone wants to call - Im too busy riding to answer... there is always voicemail

I always use earphones when I ride, I seriously can't do without them. The worst for me is the engine sound. It really gets old after riding for miles and miles. So far Ive tried Bose SIE2i Sport edition which work pretty well if you can get them to fit under your helmet. Ive also used Comply earphones which work amazing, downside is that they fall apart fairly fast. On another note: I came across these guys: www.motorcycleearphones.com - apparently theyr working on earphones that are made to be used under a motorcycle helmet. Looking forward to see what these guys are going to come up with. Check em out, I emailed them with questions, and they are very quick with responses. Hope all this helps

Edit: Just saw this is a dead thread .

I generally use earplugs, but the earphones that came with my S3 (and the couple of replacements i've had since) are fairly decent i've found. Don't think they're usually more than a fiver either.

They don't completely cancel outside noise out like I imagine some of the really expensive ones might, but its good enough to stop your ears hurting and let you hear music/ebooks etc clearly .

Can adjust the volume whilst riding too if i'm wearing summer gloves, which is handy - although I think that would only work using them with a Samsung phone.
