This is not my bike, just trying to help someone out:

Hi all, wonder if anyone can help - Ive got a 2000 Blackbird CBR1100XXY (first year of Fuel Injection). Its not been run for a couple of months and when I tried to start it this morning it wont turn over. Ive given it a copious quantity of expletives along with a good beating with stick but to no avail!!

There is plenty of battery life (its been on an optimate all the time) and everything else electrical works except the engine and starter. It wont bump start and when I switch the ignition on I can't hear the fuel injection energizing - ive checked the FI and start fuses and removed the main fuse to try to re-boot it but absolutely zilch. Anyone got any ideas what next?

And:

normally when you switch the ignition on you can hear the petrol pump energising but it doesn't do that either - it won't bump start either so I think it is more likely to be something to do with the engine management system or the HISS immobiliser - but I will give the solenoid a try and get back to you. thanks

anybody any ideas?

Somebody hasnt turned it off by the kill switch have they?? As you say the fuel injection makes a noticable noise on the bird as you turn the ignition on aslong as the kill switch is on...i turn my bird off by the kill switch.

If it's not the kill switch, get the wiring diagram out and find out what dependencies there are prior to the fuel pump & starter motor engaging.

If the pump isn't priming then I'd say kill switch or immobiliser.

Common on the bird for the kill switch to corrode/play up and stop the pump priming, take it apart and use contact cleaner, other causes have been wire falling off the ignition switch, faulty/corroded FI relay, sticky clutch/sidestand switches, the dreaded loom problem and faulty alarms.

He's got it sorted, it was the engine stop relay that had rusted up.
