https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-SPORT-STREETFIGHTER-FAIRING-TWIN-HEADLIGHT-INDICATORS-MOTORCYCLE-BLACK-/250889540771?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3a6a2e94a3#ht_2164wt_1396

I was looking at getting something like that as I think the light on the Hornet doesn't really match the overall look of the bike.

Obviously if you check my other posts, I have little clue about working with bikes but I want to give this a go myself.

Would this require much extra work or would it be screw in and plug in?

I love the look of https://www.toutsurlamoto.com/photogallery/tuninggp/phototuning/honda-hornet-600-dragon-img01-s.jpg

But I can't seem to find it anywhere.

35 watts does not really sound adequate for a headlight on a street bike by comparison to your standard item, especially if you were to ride at night.

Does this unit from ebay come with two 35/35w bulbs for high and low beams?
Does it come with a relay for switching the power to the bulbs?
Does it come with a pilot light?
Are the bulbs standard H4 items that could easily be upgraded to 55/60w H4 bulbs?
Would the plastic lens melt if you were to uprate the bulbs from 35w to 55w bulbs?

Dont trust lights like that.

DT125 has a light that's kind of like that, and it's absolutely gash in the dark.

If you like the look of the headlight in that pic, you'll want to spend a bit more on a decent headlight.

I'm not 100% sure, but if you were to get that light then put it in for an MOT, it'd fail? on the fact that your switchgear has a position for pilot light, but you don't actually have one. at least an advisory, anyway.

Those dominator lights are not bad Wink

Price is shouting WARNING.

Personally, I'd steer well clear of that.

If you are after better light from your current light, for the same as what you are looking to spend there you could get a decent HID kit.

Get slim one, 35w 4300k H4 for your hornet.

But for god sakes make sure you adjust the bastards properly as the glare can be REALLY bad.

I've adjusted mine and in 1k miles of general commuting never been flashed once.

I'd stick with a standard headlight any day of the week. That kind of headlight you linked to is only any good for use around town on mopeds and the like, it's seriously underpowered for national limit roads. The motorbike you linked to has a proper headlight, from a gixxer or something maybe, but will be designed for 55w halogens. 55w/60w (low beam, high beam) really is a minimum IMO for national limit roads. I wouldn't bother trying to fit higher power bulbs into a housing like that one on ebay either, massive waste of time.

This looks reasonably cheap and has a decent chance of lighting up the road:

No position light is a fail, had a bike fail for it.

I've got a set of Chrome dominators(twin rather than single like the above link) and they're pretty good for night time. About the same maybe slightly less visibility but I never had a problem.

The one in your original link will not only look shit but be shit!

As the other guy said the hornet in the image has a proper headlight from another bike. I would personally love to have a cb1000r headlight on my hornet.

Also, switching headlights is pretty simple. Generally the connections are the same but if not its just a case of changing them so they fit...

And position light... Is that the tiny bulb that lights up? My current hornet doesn't have one and wasn't even mentioned in the MOT...

I don't know what it is about the big arse light on the hornet that annoys me but it does, I also don't like the look of two small lights.

I'd really like to get the light from the second picture (the bike) but I can't find it.

It looks a bit like a GSXR headlight, with a bit of custom-made cowling around it.

Unfortunately, with headlights, you've got to be prepared to drop some noteworthy money if you want to get a good one. Those ~£35 'streetfighter' headlights are always going to be bad.

It isn't the exact one I am looking at I was more interested to find out how hard it would be to fit to the hornet.

Well, anything that uses a standard fork mount will be easy to fit; it's when you want a properly pretty-looking light, that requires custom parts to be fabricated that it becomes a pain in the arse. That second one will have had a frame made up for it, which is not spectacularly difficult, just time-consuming.
