I went to get a photo of the clutch pack on my bike, as I was about to leave the garage I noticed this on my temporary petrol tank setup.

I thought the petrol had just crystalised, but I took it off and it started melting.

It's not frozen petrol, a similar process is occurring to what makes a fridge work - change of state from liquid to vapour (gas)
You're looking at frost on a chilled surface.

It suggests you have a fuel leak at that point - as said above, it is caused by the evaporation of fuel taking heat out of the air as it does it - any moisture condenses and, in this weather, freezes. Somewhere around there fuel is evaporating and if it isn't supposed to be evaporating there, then it's a leak.

It could be that I've just stuffed one pipe into the other because I'm too lazy to connect it all up properly, that and I'm still in the process of coating the inside of the proper tank with a sealant.

My mistake for not switching the petrol off last night...

It's a leak as said above.

You might be too lazy to do it right but you'll be cured of that when your bike goes up in a ball of flame Smile
