 |
|
My son has just bought a GSF650 Bandit and is looking for an insurance policy to give him cover while he is doing his DAS training (under supervision naturally)
He has had 2 quotes from Bennett's for 900ish Fully Comp and 750ish TPFT.
Anyone have experience from other companies offering this level of insurance as he is getting no joy with the likes of Carole Nash etc ____________________ www.angliaroadtraining.com

He would prefer to use his own bike, hence the question ____________________ www.angliaroadtraining.com

By a qualified DAS instructor carrying his certificate and in radio contact with no more than two trainees, displaying L plates and wearing fluorescent or at night, retro-reflective clothing?
Not his dad, or his dad's mate, I mean.
I'd give Swinton a try, they don't seem to care much about licenses or seeing documentation (pre claim). They do require that you have a valid license for the bike, but under the right conditions your son's provisional is perfectly valid for that or any other bike. Once you've got the certificate, that's essentially what matters if any legal shenanigans kick off.
Just be careful about believing anything that you get told by some untrained insuramong on commission, or read on a random intartubes forum for that matter. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I should perhaps explain that I am a fully qualified DAS instructor. It is a long story as to why he wants to use his own bike but as he will get the training for free there is some appeal to the idea ____________________ www.angliaroadtraining.com

That's not too bad is it?
I'm insured with Bennetts on a 600 Hornet as first ever bike, something like £360 TPFT with 1 claim for my car, and the purchase of 2 security devices which brought the quote down from about £500.
I was looking at Bandits and I don't think there was too much difference, maybe a bit more expensive for quotes on a Bandit?
It's kept in a very low-crime area so that helps |

Found a company https://www.thebikeinsurer.co.uk who offer cover for a learner on provisional for 2 months then 10 months on full licence for £560 TPFT. Thought that was quite reasonable. ____________________ www.angliaroadtraining.com

Very reasonable I'd say, on a big bike with 0 NCD / experience! ____________________
