If your instructor is happy with what you're doing then keep doing I'd say. Best of luck with the test, ride safe. |

Try to not be all "I'm going to pass" as this does put immense pressure on you.
Check everything is legal on your bike.
Just remember to do a left and right shoulder check when needed and before pulling away.
Good luck |

Cheers, I'm finding the crap weather conditions recently make for good practice as I'm not tempted to speed.
Papa mentioned he would venture out of the pub (for once) and take me to a few shops to have a look around at some bikes, can't bloody wait to get off this CBF |

You've passed mod 1? Then mod 2 is a piece of pie, just ride your normal ride, plenty of shoulder checks, slow into junctions and roundabouts, sharpish out.
Try not to be too bothered about what the examiner is saying, you're better to go the wrong way safely than fluff it by trying to slavishly follow possibly confusing directions. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I don't want a Ducati now, just wanted to know what Paddy thinks of them. Yeah the CBF looks good I have not tried the lean forward riding style but I have no problem with bolt upright as it is so I think I will just stick with it.
To be honest, I think Ill just grab the best thing that comes along and go with it, CB, GSF, CBF, CBR... 250, 400, 500, 600, so on. |

With 1 years NCB, at 18, they want about 3k from me for one of those
If it helps you with choosing a bike, I've been working on finding bikes with "affordable" insurance that I like the look of. All of these quotes were calculated as if I was 18 (either on the day, or already 18 for a day or so) with 1 years NCB, garaged with a Meta Defcom T alarm and as a student - also the only rider and all of them include pillion cover.
Please note, these bikes may not be suitable. At the moment I'm composing a list on what has "reasonable" insurance, then later on I'll be working out whether the bike is really viable to run at 33bhp and (primarily) as a commuter.
| Quote: | 1NCB £295 for a 2001 Kawasaki ER 500
1NCB £395 for a 2004 Susuki GS 500 F
1NCB £710 for a 2003 Yamaha YZF 600 Thundercat
1NCB £419 for a 1999 Honda CB600F Hornet
1NCB £438 for a 2001 Yamaha 600 Fazer
1NCB £710 for a 1999 Honda VFR 800
1NCB £688 for a 2004 Triumph Speed Four (600cc)
1NCB £257 for a 1992 Honda CB400 Super Four
1NCB £535 for a 2004 Suzuki SV650
1NCB £404 for a 2007 Honda CB 500 S
1NCB £295 for a 2001 Honda CB 500 S

Also, as said by others, the A2 really isn't that hard. Good luck
Things to look out for: cancel your indicators, remember your shoulder checks, mirror check every 10 or so seconds, check mirrors before changing speed substantially (i.e. 40 to 60, 60 to 30, etc.) and remember MSM (Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre). ____________________ 2004 R1 & 2018 XSR900 |
