This bike is at my dealers for £2000, very clean looking with all the bells and whistles but has a fair bit of milage.... should this be a no no? Has only had one owner and has full service history.

No not really should do at least a 100k. 30k isn't much for a solid 4 cylinder motor.

Bandits are well known for their engines and are capable of high mileage.

30k shouldn't be too much if its been looked after and FSH suggests it has. Also you should get a warranty from the dealer if only for a few months.

I will say though that there are literally hundreds of bandits for
sale so have a good look round first.

The Bandits motor is effectively a sleeved down Early model GSXR750 engine. In GSXR trim they made at least 30 horsepower more, so in bandit guise are more than capable of VERY high mileages.

Just make sure the maintenance has been kept up and maintain it properly yourself. As far as the engine goes, change the oil regularly and check the valves. Its bolt and locknut so is straightforward.

That's really top dollar for a B6 not least from the fact that they stopped making them in 2004 as it became the 650 in 2005. Must be a late registered one. You could get a less mileage one for less money, though saying that it's not excessive the motor can easily do 3 times that with proper maintenance.

£1200 max. Plenty on the 'bay at this pice level. Leaves you a nice wad to cover a service, insurance, some nice riding gear and a few beers.
Dealers warranties are not worth the hot air coming out of the salesmans mouth and a Bandit is rediculously easy to service yourself.
Good solid bikes, if a little unexciting.

Why are a lot of bikers scared of mileage?

Are you puffs or something?

You want to read the post before making stupid comments.
No one has mentioned being scared of mileage as regards to the actual bike just its value. The majority of bikes/riders are doing 2-3,000 miles per year, theres so many bikes around at this level of mileage so more is a good a bargaining point.

As long as it's been fairly well looked after and in 'average' condition for a six-year-old bike, should be fine but would prefer it if it was 2/300 quid less.

Bought mine with 33k on the clocks for only £850, so it seems a bit steep

I haven't come across any at that price range for a 2006 model!!! Even the 1996 models are about 12-1500????

I've looked for weeks and weeks, You really can't even get a bandit thats a 1996 reg for less than 1200, but an 06 for 2000 is the best I've seen... Maybe I'm not searching on google properly or something.

The other week, I was in the local Suzuki dealership chatting about a new bike. I asked out of interest if they'd be interested in my low mileage busa. It's got 17.5k on the clock and it's an original 1999 model. He looked shocked and said that's high mileage... eeeeh?

Ahh, just a little.
I saw a nice one at a dealer, 05 plate 7,500 miles £2,300

You gotta think if you go in at £1900 waving notes you gotta get it at around that!

Exactly... Thumbs Up

If you say its 5 years old. Thats a measly 115 miles a week..... I do 160 just comuting, never mind any joy ride miles....

Just because a dealer is asking the price, does not mean the OP has to pay it.....

Go in hard and make a offer. See what thye say and be prepared to walk away if they won't start talking figures. Thumbs Up

You may find that they call you back before you get out of the door at this time of the year Karma
