new bike time

So when it comes to getting my new bike..... what do i pick?

Both the same price from the dealers, same milage, 1 owner from new etc etc.

Daytona for me. Striples seem to be fairly common compared to the Daytona, and it just looks incredible.

Near enough the same bike but the daytona has a fairing It's more about aesthetics. i'll have the CBR for commuting so this bike is for fun....

I just hate the standard Striple exhausts, though with them changed I think it looks just as nice as the Daytona.

My restriction runs out in october, and i'll have 2 years no claims, so the daytona 675 looks to be my next choice then.

They do make the 1050 version too, which is basically a faired Speed Triple.

Well.... after doing an insurance quote... it's decided i'm not getting either... £2k for insurance on a '08 daytona! that's the same as my car with 0 no claims!

I'll get one in a few years, depending on the outcome of this poll...

Ive ridden both. Being an old fart the Daytona is painful after a long ride. My mate (his Daytona I was riding) absolutly loves it. He has had an R1 before and much prefers the Daytona.

I have a STR. Fun on 2 wheels. STUPID fun on 2 wheels. I love it.

|No good for touring though, I need to go to ventura or buy a Triumph Tiger Adventure

Find something a bit older/different Dunc.

The reason they are expensive is because they are seen as very sporty and often crashed by insurance companies.

What do you want from a motorcycle? Supersports? Fast? Comfy? Depending what you want there are plenty of motorcycles out there that aren't too bad on insurance compared to that kind of price, plus, new motorcycles like those are ALWAYS much more expensive.

Depending on what you want, why not look at things like:

They are cheaper on insurance than the bikes you've posted I believe.

Stuff like that, ST1100s/ST1300s, older GSX-Rs (K4-K6), older CBRs, supermotos and others like that tend to be very cheap on insurance.

For example, with two years NCB I can insure a 2008 Honda Hornet like the one above for £500 TPFT with Ride Other Bikes. That's a bargain.

Look around, there are good bikes out there for decent insurance money! !

As far as between the two - it really depends what you're wanting.

Speed triple is a litre, I couldn't insure that. The next bike I want will have to be something light and fast and good looking. Not bothered about comfort since it'll be a 'fun' bike. Ill still have the CBR and the car for commuting.

I did look at the 05-06 636 and was quite interested. I'd like something with a 180 rear tyre because I can get race scrubs off my mate for much cheapness in that size.

I am pretty tempted to get another TT600, because it handled so bloody well.

I was looking at the new hornets at the dealers, they are pretty gorgeous but not for me. Don't want another honda, would like something not very common. And it has to be fuel injected because I forgot how much of a bloody nightmare carbs were over winter.

This is quite annoying. Even with 2 years no claims, no commuting, me being 20 (probably why its so expensive), 1 no fault claim, 3K miles a year and garaged, its still extortionate.

Might go to the dealers and see what bike I can test ride.

Anyway, what about an early R6 for cheap road-fun in the mean time? Bit more flighty than the TT, but a lot more 'sparkle' in 'most all areas, I'd say.

This is Mr Dunk folks. He has as much luck with bikes as Whitney Houston has with men and life.

If he buys a 675 Triumph he will either drop it and kill the plastics to death or kill it with fire or get stolen.

The Triple would be the safer option either way. That wont die to death if it gets dropped, that means he can only kill it with fire or get it stolen.

Lets face it Mr Dunk buddy. Your luck with bikes I would recomend this:
