 Posted: 17:48 - 12 Feb 2012 Post subject: Piaggio NRG wont rev |
 |
|
Hello,
Long time, no post!
I've got an issue with my Piaggio NRG scooter;
The screws that hold the stator onto the crankcase snapped off and the stator fell off and has chewed up the inside of my flywheel.
I've since replaced the stator and flywheel, removed the old screws and replaced with all new parts.
I've now got a spark again (the wiring near the CDI/Coil pack had also died) and the bike will idle, and maybe increase by about 500-1,000rpm, but I cannot get it to rev anymore!
I've checked the jetting in the carb (Seems alright and based on all the after-market parts I have is as close to the correct jetting that I can get without getting it on a dyno), I've checked the reeds (although I'm not 100% sure that they are ok) I've checked that there is compression and that all gaskets are in place and everything is connected and bolted together.
I'm just stuck now...
Could it be the reeds in the reed block (main thing I think it could be) or possibly something else I've overlooked?
If you would like me to upload a video if it helps, just ask and I will do it asap.
Please see my signature for a list of all parts on the bike at the moment.
Thanks again! ____________________ Sold: NRG 50cc, SR125cc, CBR125cc, Mito MK 1 125cc, Speedfight 50cc, Stomp 125cc, cbr125cc, NRG 172cc, CBF 125cc, Zip 70cc, stomp 140cc

I had a similar problem with my Derbi, the CDI went.
A video would help.

I'll take a video tomorrow, it's a bit late to be getting the light out in the garage now and trying to get it running (the neighbours are annoyed enough as it is!)
Also I don't have a digital camera, only my mobile phone and the camera is rubbish on it...
I've already replaced the CDI/Coil pack with a de-restricted Athena one, all the electrics have been checked and are all working the way they are supposed to.
Thanks guys!  ____________________ Sold: NRG 50cc, SR125cc, CBR125cc, Mito MK 1 125cc, Speedfight 50cc, Stomp 125cc, cbr125cc, NRG 172cc, CBF 125cc, Zip 70cc, stomp 140cc

As requested, one video, sorry for the poor quality, it's from my phone.
I've tried to include just a general view of the engine/ exhaust.
One tuning company mentioned to me earlier that it might be my oils seals have been damaged when the stator came loose, can't see how but I will be buying new oil seals just to play it safe soon.

Mine didn't sound like that. Mine rev'd but sounded like it was bouncing off a rev limiter at like 3,000 rpms.
I would post the video but I deleted it off youtube before I sold my bike
Is your throttle cable definitely connected? ____________________ Rusty '02 Vito Camper + CBR600F3 |

Timing is spot on;
When I replaced the stator and flywheel, the stator came from a Piaggo NRG 50, exactly the same year/model and version as my bike is.
Flywheel is brand new, timing is spot on.
Pretty sure the slide isn't stuck, I've checked that the throttle slide and needle is opening properly when the bike isn't running, but it wont even start with no air filter so can't take it off and see if it's still moving when the bikes running, but i'm pretty sure it is.
I've made sure everything is back on properly, and double checked and triple checked.
I've been off the road for 3 weeks now and it's really annoying...  ____________________ Sold: NRG 50cc, SR125cc, CBR125cc, Mito MK 1 125cc, Speedfight 50cc, Stomp 125cc, cbr125cc, NRG 172cc, CBF 125cc, Zip 70cc, stomp 140cc
